Dividing the 80s into three categories

divide them up into three categories: early 80s, mid 80s and late 80s. Use music from 1980 to 1983 while throwing some at-the-time recurrents including stuff from the late 70s. Second would be from 1984 to 1986 with recurrents from the early 80s. The third one would be from 1987 to 1989...hopefully you get the point. I discovered this while sifting through late 80s top 40 airchecks and realized that these three different categories of the 80s are quite unique in their own way: the early 80s was a phasing out of disco with new wave and power rock, the mid 80s were more contemporary and synth heavy, the late 80s were very rhythmic with hip hop and dance music that would blow up in the early 90s. Thank you XM's IT 80s playlist for helping me come up with this idea. This would make these channels sound more like a top 40 formatfrom the 80s, as opposed to just an 80s hits format. Obviously this would be something that would not show up on terr radio unless on an HD2-3 stream, but would make a great online streams. HOpe this makes sense to someone, comming from a guy whose never stepped into a studio.
