Dixie Carter Dies At 70

...Although if Dixie2's product doesnt improve significantly more sooner than later, her company may follow Dixie1....

Doesn't Vince McMahon own TNA, in a way? I'm sure they'd work a way into the script for some of the wrestlers to make a reference to the "other" Dixie Carter during pre-wrestling smack talk...

I never liked "Designing Women" but this still makes me sad.

I hated her on the first show I ever saw her in, but supposedly she was the actress everyone talked about on that show.

The show was "On Our Own". She was nasty and Southern.

I liked her in "Filthy Rich". And if I'm not mistaken, she was the wife of Phillip Drummond on "Diff'rent strokes" who suggested he do what CEOs have been doing on "Undercover Boss".

Wow, I guess I'm not the only person who remembers "On Our Own" which lasted just one season, 1977-78. I recall at the time it was mentioned that it was the only sitcom being produced in New York City. First show I remember Dixie Carter being part of the cast. I recall her character being more haughty than nasty. Dixie pretty much stole every scene she was in.

Never have seen "On Our Own" in any sort of reruns anywhere since it originally aired. Starred a 23 year-old Bess Armstrong in her first television role.

Hey, I've got an idea, maybe TV Land can unearth reruns of this series and show them as part of a special marathon... nah, on second thought, they'd probably rather air "First Love, Second Chance" and that rerun of "Fresh Prince" for the 1,999th time... Never mind...

Did they ever explain (on Diff'rent Strokes) how the part of Mrs. Drummond went from being played by Dixie Carter one season, to being played by Mary Ann Mobley the next? That whole "same character, different actor" thing was a "jump the shark" category!

Haughty, nasty, whatever. Different words, probably the same thing. Nasty can mean something completely different now, given changing standards.

Maybe it was Mary Ann Mobley who said he should go undercover.

As for changing actors, I'm watching "Bewitched" on WGN America these days and they had Dick York at 4 and Dick Sargent at 4:30 one day. I actually prefer Sargent and his episodes are airing now.l
