Congrats to the Chicks for sweeping their nominations at the Grammy's. There's nothing better in my book than sticking it to big corporate radio, and what they did to the girls. Freedom of speech should be allowed in this country, and the girls did nothing wrong, but got banned.

Yet Limbaugh, Hannity, and others are allowed to continue to bash any Democrat in or out of office.

Good for the Chicks sticking it to the man! On top of it, "Not Ready To Make Nice" is a great song!
 
I agree. The Chicks put out one of their best albums ever, and all Country radio did was ignore them. The folks and voters at NARAS made the right decision in giving the trio the golden hardware.

PUHHHLEEEASE!!! As an original native of the South, I think this unpatriotic, enlightened challenged, ill informed trio need a name change. Drop the Dixie from your names girls. You haven't earned the right to use it! The Grammy's are all about their left wing manifesto apeasement politics and have proven themselves irrelevant and out of touch with main stream Country Music! How about Democrat Chicks or better yet Frenchie Chicks! I'm surprised Cindy Shehan, or however you spell her name, hasn't joined this group.

They ain't a hit on the radio anymore! Concerts have been cancelled! Grammy's aren't about talent and great music, there about making a statement about their lack of support for our great Military and the War on Terror! Even you bleeding hearts are infidels in the eyes of the enemy. The Islamic Extremist want you gone as much as they want me gone!

A little stronger than I would have put it, but the Grammys have always (or at least as far back as I can remember) been more about political correctness and/or making a statement than artistic merit. Did anyone NOT see their sweep coming?

Looks like a bigger win for Chavez, Chirac, Putin, the UN, Al Quieda and everyone else who hates America. The big loser is the Grammy's credibility for giving these honors to three misguided women who can't get played on the radio, has to play selective concerts to sell any tickets and has called their former fans morons!

Chicks could have won 30 grammys...they are irrelevant in country music to the listeners. The Grammys have never reflected the listening habits of the format...they barely recognize country exists. This is a totally political vote. It is unbelievable that they havent had a song this year that got out of the 40's and yet they are nominated in five country categories. A further statement that they dont want to waste slots in the pop categories, so lets stick them in country.

This is indeed a statement vote..NARAS and industry...not the public have made this decision for us.
 
The two wins by Carrie Underwood proved that your statements are not true. No one is bigger right now then the former American Idol winner. With the win by the Dixie Chicks, their single "Not Ready To Be Nice" went into hot rotation on our station.

Country radio is clueless, because the stations are owned by the big boys.
 
All of this just goes to show you what the grammy's mean...absolutely friggin' nothing. For the most part the biggest lack of true talent that ever stunk up the airwwaves. Also shows you where the music industry is. So called celebrities making political statements. Sounds like a new low. And anyone who plays their music is giving them more credit than they could possibly ever deserve. Plenty of artists, country or otherwise, are much more deserving than these 3 trollops....
 
The album is a monster, not a bad cut on it. Their performance kicked ass. We shore don't want them celebrities giving opinions, next thing you know, some actor or such will run for president. Or worse, governor of CaliforneyeA.
 
Get that darn Jay Lenno off of the tube as well, he make jokes about the President on a regular basis. The Chicks have served their time. If she had comitted a REAL crime she would be out of jail by now.

If the songs are accepted by the listeners, they get played. So far, there is no indication that country listeners have any interest in hearing more DC on the radio.

It's not just country...remember when Jethro Tull won a grammy for best heavy metal song. I think Will Smith won the rap category one year too.
 
We hired a new part time jock...he worked his first shift in overnights the week between xmas and New Years. He played a DC song (Goodbye Earl, maybe) at 2:57 am and we got a couple complaints. (out of about a dozen listeners :p)

Then again, I was doing mornings on a Saturday last spring and spun one of their records (Travelin' Soldier). Didn't hear a word. Then again, I prefaced the song with a relatively long rant "politics aren't my job. I just like the song, so I'm going to play it."

I'm not sure that "Not Ready to Make Nice" is any more rock than some of Sugarland's stuff like "Settlin" and "Down in Mississippi".
