I looked at the current Billboard country singles chart, which reflects only country radio airplay. And since the song is a diss at the country music industry in general, it's not a surprise it's been rejected by said industry. Their second single "Everybody Knows," debuted on the chart at No. 53. I haven't heard it yet. The Dixie Chicks still have a huge core fan base and some are probably purchasing the song as a digital download, which helps fuel their rankings on the pop 100 and digital download charts. We're all going to have to guess how many people buy their latest album, due out in a couple of weeks, without the benefit of support from country radio. I suspect a fair opening week, thanks to lots of publicity, but not as much long-term survival without hit singles.Kicks and Eagle won't touch the Dixie Chicks because in their research, the group gets such high negatives. About half the radio stations in the country don't play them at all. Most stations that do are in more liberal pockets such as Portland, San Diego and Minneapolis.
