DJ 106.7

Is it just me, or does this station sound like a mainstream CHR station that happens to speak Spanish once in a while? They seem to be positioning themselves between Y on the one hand, and Power and 99 Jamz on the other.

Absolutely. I think the only reason they speak Spanish sometimes is that their owner, SBS, sells all their combo commercials that run on all their stations in Spanish to sponsors.

They really need to promote themselves more. They aren't half bad. Y100 is my #1 preset, DJ 106.7 is #2 and Power is #3. ;D

BTW, WRMA is now a BDS Rhythmic Top 40 reporter as of August 17, 2013. So yes they are a full-blown Rhythmic, even with the Spanish peppered in. This is going to be a interesting race they're going to have with WPOW.

The reporting status of a station has nothing to do with its success. It simply indicates which of the BDS charts a station's spins are tabulated under.

WRMA has been a "rhythmic CHR" since it changed format. It is, however, 10 places behind WPOW in its target demo and at a lower level than it was in December...

Wonder what percentage of listeners do NOT program their presets in dial order?
We know it is a left brain / right brain thing, what about a venus /mars (man/woman) difference?
I try to match my XM presets with the last digit of the channel number:
1:51 - 2:52 - 3:53 - 4:44 - 5:45 - 6:46 - 7:67 - 8:68
I am considering rearranging the first three alphabetically: Area, BPM, Chill
Of course, DJ, Jamz, Power, and Y would be alphabetical also.
In the UK, might arrange them as BBC-1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Eh most listeners do not even know 106.7 even exîsts! And if they do they prob think its Spanish. Every time I flip over its Spanish commercials or ghetto jock talk! If they want to be serious, then they need to take 96.5 on head on....that won't happen, too chicken.

Last I checked Coast is stil an Ac format, they can't be CHr when they play so many ballads and songs from the 90s

How can they be a listener and not know the station exists?
By listening, one must know that the station to which they are listening exists, Rene Descartes would agree.
They would also know the language(s) of the station to which they were listening because they would hear it or them.

Well, WRMA needs to do something aggressive if they're serious about going the Rhythmic route, even after more than a year in the format. After all, this is a market where even the "Heritage" stations knows whats works today, which explains the longevity factor at WPOW, WHYI, WEDR, WKIS, WLYF, WAMR, WHQT, WMXJ, WBGG, WXDJ, and WFLC.

What 106.7 can't compete with is how Power 96 can still run local cash contests that no corporate station can do.

Plus, they are good at moving along with fads in the rhythmic format like when edm is always going to be a fixture but they will tend to play a lot when there are alot of hits in that niche.

Meanwhile, 106 still decides to play some reggaeton or some old spanglish hit from Angie Martinez, trying to take some of RTO or MEGA's listeners away.
