Summertime ???
Is it time to rebrand ???
Granted it's Will Smith and he's safe rap but he's still a form of rap and their audience probably didn't grow up with this song. I don't think their audience is wiping down their cars and buying new sneaks to impress the girls at the basketball courts.
With Coast playing the most repetitive God awful music imaginable shouldn't Lite go out of their way not to irritate listeners?

That's funny. Maybe they are trying to turn the station into PRO-FM circa 1989. These radio stations are sneaky. Just change the music little by little so that it's barely noticable. We don't want to alienate the audience. Then maybe in a year nobody will notice when the entire playlist is different! hahahaha. You've got to love the brain of programmers. They think they are so slick. LOL

Well the fact that I hate urban/rap/most hip hop and like the song might mean something after all although I'm not in their target demo. Lite has has a tendency to think forward in terms of the future like when they added harder stuff a few years ago and added the word "rock" to the moniker. As opposed to 93.3 that thinks for the moment and gets what they can get book-by-book. I still wonder if it's time for all non rock stations (active, mainstream, alternative) to even stop using the word "rock". People think rock or hip hop. They don't think in format terms. I still think there are better songs they could begin with than this one which is music about the streets.

i know tony bristol is the pd at lite... but who is the music director there? is it JT?..... and while where on the subject of lite... how many weeks vacation does charlie jeffereds get now 10?

Dunno about Jefferds but Tony supposedly is also MD at Lite. I wonder if the reason IMHO Lite is more on target with the music than Coast is that whatever research they do with PRO FM's music helps them decide what to play on Lite. Coast doesn't really have a sister station to rely on. They can't necessarily assume because something tests well on B101 that Coast should play it.

It's a summer song...will be gone by Monday and is TOTALLY in their target demo as the teens that loved it back when it came out are now the target demo for Lite (especially the female 25-54 year olds). Does it sound out of place next to Sister Golden Hair or You're the Inspiration....yes; but a good MD wouldn't let that happen.

Mike Rovin is handling the music for Lite right now, Tony isn't MD
