I"m lovin the stream, but I gotta admit. If it weren't for the On AIr logo flashing on the webpage, I never would have seen those links. The color of the words blends right in with the site. Or maybe it's just my computer. If that's the case, then ignore me. I'm a borderline Luddite. ;-)

The whole station rocks and sounds great on the net! Thanks for spending the extra coinage to put yourselves on the net.

Oh gads - please don't think this is the final product! We put the link up temporarily while we are waiting for the site graphics to be completed. Believe me, this is nothing like the real website - just something to help out those who want to listen right now. We're also trying to get the playlist export out of the media system to give you some real time updates.

If anyone has an opinion on this next item, please feel free to respond.

In the official site, we have built a tool that determines your plug-ins and routes the stream to that tool, or gives you a choice. Now that's often great for things like Windows Media, Real, Quicktime, etc., but it can be a problem for someone running an app like Winamp. Those big media apps often load your system more, and can take up more screen real estate, but they let us do things like move images, generate streams in other formats, etc.
Do you all think it is worth the effort? Or do we stick with a simple link (albeit a little easier to identify!)

That's a great idea, but I would suggest if you go that route, give a "small link" that says "launch external player" so people can connect directly without that, if their so wanting to avoid eating up resources etc, the majority will be fine with the big deal, but for those more tech savy, giving them options, never hurts.

Bob, I think just having a good low and higher bitrate stream would be fine. MP3 or Winmedia would both be OK. Your stream sounds pretty good to my ears for 32k, and stays playing just fine without glitches. One thing you might try out is providing a higher bitrate stream using something like www.streamerp2p.com or some other type of system that doesn't cost you tons for bandwith. If you kept your current stream and added an OGG or MP3pro stream at 56k, that would be great. The encoder to do mp3pro can be found at http://www.spacialaudio.com and people can use winamp and a plug-in to listen to it. Without the plugin it still works, it just doesn't sound as awsome. Streamer will allow a person to use an external player (like winamp), or for simplicity, the internal player can be used. Regardless, thank you guys for providing streaming. It's getting hard to find a Real Oldies station out there that's worth much these days, for sure!
