DJs For Obama

I think dance music should remain non-partisan. I've met quite a few dance fans who I would never agree with politically.
Remember the Chick-Fil-A CEO who publicly stated his opinion about gay marriage, and the backlash that followed. You don't want to alienate half your audience (assuming a 50-50 Democrat-Republican split)

While I agree it is probably best as an artist to keep your political views to your self and not risk alienating your audience, its probably safe to say that the EDM audience is younger than the average American, and is therefore more likely to be liberal- so assuming a 50-50 split is probably premature. Not to mention, the EDM audience has historic ties to groups like the gay community, which are also far less like to be Republican, so again the assumption of a 50-50 split is probably incorrect.

It's truly pathetic that things like what kind of music you listen to, what's your stance on science, and where you eat your food have become litmus tests for how you vote.

Who cares? It irks me when I see some celebrities come out and tell people that they should vote for someone, because the mindset is oh so and so is behind this person, I should be too, that way Im just as cool. I wish more people would read the facts and get an understanding of what each side is pushing before deciding on who to support.

I don't get why people choose not to inform themselves about who they're voting for. Then they blame the politicians. It shouldn't have to come down to which side has more money from corporations to spend on mudslinging advertising. If everyone made an informed decision, it wouldn't matter how much money is in politics. I see this upcoming election as voting for the lesser of 2 evils. There is a third party candidate who I would really want to vote for but I know that voting for him is a waste of a vote. I don't like Obama or Romney, but I have to choose which one I hate less. If people made an informed decision rather than sticking with party lines, 3rd party candidates would have a viable chance at winning the election.

Politics aside,I posted this because it just shows how dance music and its artists continue to gain mainstream acknowledgement.I also never understood why celebrities felt compel to tell me who to vote for. Clint Eastwood at the RNC was right down embarrassing. And the whole Chick Fil-A thing was orchestrated to get people to come out and buy more of their food. Most people are so gullible with these culture wars that only benefit the pockets of these corporations.

I would say your average EDM listener leans 75% to 25% for Obama, possibly higher, but there are still probably some fans who are Republicans. It's really the same as hip-hop being in the bag for Obama. It's a liberal fan base. Country stars probably heavily lean towards Romney.

Who cares.

I've always thought of dance music as the universal language that could bring everyone together simply because of the love and passion we have for the music - regardless of where one lives or political affiliation.

Please let's keep the politics out of EDM.
