DJ's who named themselves after guns

My impression was that these fast-talking DJ's used a gun metaphor to enhance their rapid fire delivery persona and were not actually 'naming' themselves after real weapons.

Of course, back then guns weren't the issue they are today.

I know that, but they were catchy names.

I was stating the obvious (for those of us who listened to the 'gunners').

BTW, just how many "Machine Gun Kelly's" were there anyway? I remember about five different ones.
