DL Sold

Guys:
For some reason the post about this was duplicated. I intended to delete the duplication and it deleted both threads. Sorry!
For the record:
First post said that there was a rumor that DL was sold and Bob Vanderheyden was the new GM.
Second post said it was not a rumor. Guys, pick up where you were. Sorry about the deletion but I only intended to delete the dup.

Would The Duke have any finandial interest in Bold Gold??
A good thing all around--hopefully someone will make some moves to be a real player in the market, but I have to say I like the format as it is now---please don't switch it to oldies!!!!

Bold Gold couldn't have made a better choice for GM. Bob Vanderheyden is one of the most professional radio people I've ever met! On top of that he's a genuine nice guy too and that's something that seems to be lacking in this business these days. Bob is from the old school: LISTEN to your audience and GIVE them what they are asking for! It's simple folks!!! Unfortunately that theory seems to have been lost somewhere along the line by the consultants who are hell bent on TELLING people what they, in their infinite wisdom, just KNOW that the people SHOULD be asking for!! Personally I fail to understand how anyone can be blind to that but a lot are. If anyone can prove that theory is still valid it's Bob. Likewise, if anyone can turn what's left of those stations around and make them successful, that too is Bob.

Re: Bob Vanderheyden

Sounds like you know him very well. Is he a personal friend or have you ever actually worked with him. The RoyD is curious.

This is excting news. I'm sure we all wish Mr. BVH the very best of luck in this deal. At the very most, I hope he rocks the world with this situation. At the very least, I hope he can get the evening jock to stop purposely belching on the air.

Every night, between 6:30 and 7:45Pm, (I know this because I'm cleaning up in the kitchen after dinner) he starts with a sounder that has a couple of sneezes, some choas and then ends it with a huge burp. For as many times as I've heard it, I still don't quite understand what the bit is but it has become a staple of the Big Kahuna's show. When that happens, my wife immediately switches the radio back to NPR. And while I worked with and know George Graham well, I gotta have my oldies if I am scrubbing pots.

Re: Bob Vanderheyden

Vanderheyden may be a "good" radio guy. Buy his people skills need some serious work. Just ask some of the old WSGD people he lied to about not firing them BEFORE they put in the automation. One woman who worked nights, came crying to him asking if he was going to fire her and go to automation at nigh. That she had 2 children to worry about. Vanderheyden lied to her face and said "No! I wouldn't do a thing like that." 2 days later she got the boot and was offered part time. A real 'honey' of a guy, who never wanted to be bothered or concerned with the people who worked for him.
