DMCA? Clear Channel Doesn't Know What That Is....

Clear Channel has launched an "All Beatles & Stones Radio" online web stream. It is exactly as it sounds. A station that plays only two bands and is a clear violation of DMCA. They are launching other similar stations as well. The 4 song by the same artist every 3 hour rule? Oops.

If that's the case then Sirius/XM's been violating the DMCA for years.

Chances are, they've made deals with the record labels/music gods.

Exactly. The rights holders just want to be asked. But as long as they're getting paid, they have no complaints. And when they do channels like this, just like at Sirius, they are partly "marketing tools" done in conjunction with the labels.

Although that is a possibility, no one has a license for the Beetles. Unless Clear Channel handed them a very large pile of money, I don't see them striking a deal that Spotify has been unable to achieve. Itunes had to fight for years to even get rights to sell the Beetles music. Offering an interactive station legally I just don't see happening.
