Do all stations launch new songs on morning shows?

This morning on Lite FM morning host Karen Carson played the debut of Michael Buble's new song Everything. Is this done at all stations where the jocks introduce new songs to the rotation by first playing it on their morning show?

as I recall from the old days, new songs start in off hours, overnight, to avoid tune out,the morning show usually gets new music LAST, unless the artist is doing something for/with the station, and you'll hear the song in regard to the event; as soon as the event is over, so is the airplay

Usually, stations don't play new songs at all on personality morning shows... allowing them to familiarize and grow in other dayparts. The exception is when you have a song by a big, core artist or a highly topical song that makes for talk value.

No and for good reason

Remember "The Beatles Anthology"? Capitol used it to force-feed "Free as a Bird" :p on radio. CBS-FM played the song at midnight Sunday night after the TV special, the first moment the station could legally do so. Z100 played the song Monday on the Z Morning Zoo, got complaint calls and pulled the record (and this was when Z100 was leaning modern rock).

When WABC was Musicradio 77 new songs usually got their first play on survey day "On the Dan Ingram Show!" CHARGE!

Yes, I agree, typically songs used begin in the overnight hours, however, many of the stations now are so familiar with the artists and their songs, that they have changed this. Many stations know what songs are going to be hits right out of the starting gates (Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back", RBD's "Tu Amor") that they premiere them with the largest audience to get them familiar with the song, then play it frequently throughout the week. Afterwards, they play it based on listener reactions.

RBD's "Tu Amor" premiered on KIIS-FM's "On Air with Ryan Seacrest". Clear Channel knew that it would be a hit in LA since their audience was familiar with the group, so they premiered it with a large audience.

Yes, it is a gamble in some sense, however, take a look at the songs premiered on the morning shows, and find one that really hasn't been a hit. Their system usually pays off.

92.3 K-rock always did world premeires during the cane and cabbie show or later on during booker show. this would always happen if I can remeber correctly at around 5pm
