Do any TV stations sign off?

This was mentioned on another thread.

I never stayed up late enough to see what happened when station still did it.

But we have seen footage of the U.S. flag and our military in action as "The Star-Spangled Banner" played.

Here In Fargo WDAY (ABC) signs off at 2:30 am and comes back on at 4 am and I believe they don't even air World News Now

As I mentioned on another thread, Nebraska and Iowa's statewide PBS networks sign off nightly for budget reasons. Some other PBS stations might do the same.

Since August 31, 2013, IPTV has gone off-the-air nightly from midnight to 5 a.m. over-the-air due to budget concerns, reduced from a 24-hour schedule. Mediacom continues to carry the network in their markets with 24-hour programming due to their direct fiber connection from IPTV in Johnston to their Des Moines headend, which distributes the three IPTV channels statewide; the national satellite services carry the network's over-the-air signal, thus also going off the air from midnight to 5 a.m. The network hopes to restore over-the-air 24-hour service in the near future; late night programming mainly consists of the national PBS schedule.

KEYC in Mankato, MN (the only station in the market) signs of every night. When I was able to pick them up when I lived in my house (3 years ago) the Fox subchannel was at 12:30 and the CBS main was 1:07 (after Friends). Looking at the schedule now its about 2:00 they sign off. 5AM is sign on with Shepherds Chapel on CBS

Cable and satellite actually have programming on it. You'll see the sign off (with SSB) then color bars for a minute or so (then the transmitter is turned off) then cable/satellite JIP's a paid program. They have paid programs til 4:57 AM then its cut for the sign on then the programs at 5AM

KCTS 9 Seattle/KYVE 47 Yakima sign off about once a month or so for transmitter maintenance on Monday mornings around 3AM.
Until just about a year ago, KVRR Fargo and its relayers signed off at 12:30-1AM CT each weeknight, that was replaced by overnight weather.
KQDS Duluth did the same thing.
KVLY Fargo signs off currently on Sunday nights/Monday morning from 1:30AM-4AM.
And we can't forget, WOAY 50 (PSIP 4) still signs off every night.

In the 90's while all other Atlanta TV stations went 24/7, WGTV/ch 8 (PBS) would sign off early Monday at 1 AM and sign back on at 6 AM. Through a peculiar quirk of our cable system, during this time frame one night WAKA in Montgomery AL (CBS) was coming in. Another night had WFLA in Tampa FL (NBC) coming in.

Here is list of some stations still signing off:
KTVL in Medford, OR signs off at 2:37 AM (Saturday) and 2 AM (Sunday)
WWNY in Watertown, NY signs off at 2:07 AM (Tuesday-Saturday) and 2 AM (Sunday and Monday)
KVAL in Eugene, OR signs off at 2:07 AM (Saturday) and 2 AM (Sunday)
KGWC in Casper, WY signs off at 2:07 AM (Tuesday-Saturday), 2:30 AM (Sunday), 1 AM (Monday)
KIDK in Idaho Falls, ID signs off at 2:07 AM (Saturday) and 1:30 AM (Sunday)
WMBD in Peoria, IL signs off at 3:37 AM (Saturday) and 3:35 AM (Sunday)
WTKR in Norfolk, VA signs off at 4:35 AM (Saturday and Sunday)
KMEG in Sioux City, IA signs off at 3:07 AM (Saturday)
KLBK in Lubbock, TX signs off at 1:07 AM (Saturday) and 2:05 AM (Sunday)
KAMC in Lubbock, TX signs off at 2:07 AM (Saturday) and 2:35 AM (Sunday)
WFRV in Green Bay, WI signs off at 2:30 AM (Saturday and Sunday)
KOAM in Joplin, MO signs off at 1:07 AM (Saturday) and 3:30 AM (Sunday)
KREX in Grand Junction, CO signs off at 1:37 AM (Saturday) and 2:30 AM (Sunday)

They still sign off nightly

WDSE 8/WRPT 31 Duluth/Hibbing (PBS) signs off nightly around 1AM. I dont know what happens on cable or satellite since I no longer live there (I think they use to just play the national feed but online guides still say "sign off")

KBFD in Honolulu signs off at 12:30AM every night then signs on at 6AM. They use the National Anthems of the United States and South Korea when they do this, as they air Korean programs daily save for the infomercials in the mornings.

I remember when I was living in Pacifica

I watched KRON 4 Go off for the night, and seeing something on Ch. 4, It was Reno's Ch. 4 KCRL at the time, It was very fringe

For a bit, I can watch KCRA 3 without the slop from KRON

KVAL-13/KCBY-11/KPIC-4 still sign off weekends. Saturday mornings at 2:07AM, Sunday mornings at 2AM. They sign on at 5:00AM Saturday mornings, 6:00AM Sunday mornings.

All the local stations are on 24/7 if you count weather radar on WXSP at 4AM for an hour before paid programming, weekends Saturday 2:30AM to 5:00AM & SUN 3AM to 5AM for weather radar, WOTV 3:30AM until 5AM Sat & Sun, CW7 does home shopping from 2AM to 6AM M-F, SAT 2AM to 5:30AM, SUN depends if there is sports from ASN mainly in the fall 3AM to 6AM. The rest put off-net shows or paid programming in the overnight hours mainly WWMT with paid programming SAT & SUN. FOX17 use to sign off for many years at 1AM that may have changed in the late 90's to later at night I remember they would air City Guys/Cal Dreams at 3AM timeslot from fall 01 to fall 03 would sign off at 3:30AM came back on at 5AM from the guide but not sure on that I think in 04 they changed and haven't singed off. Local PBS is on 24/7 unless cable switches it to the national feed late at night not sure on that since I don't watch PBS at all.

KAPP/KVEW in Yakima/Tri Cities used to sign off every night until 2012, when they started running World News Now. But on weekends, they used to sign off until 7:00AM (and mind you, this was 2012 not 1982). Now they use that old sign-off time to simulcast overnight shows on their MeTV subchannel.

WNYT in Albany still signs off for about 25 minutes on weekdays from 3:35 AM to 4:00 AM. They used to show color bars during this period but now they have the weather radar up. The station doesn't even mention that it's signing off. It just cuts from the last program to the radar.

If we are using that theory then both KQDS (FOX Duluth, MN) and the K_RR cluster in North Dakota (KVRR/KNRR/KJRR/KBRR) "sign off" nightly still. They use to truly sign off every night but now they have the "All Night Weather Authority" which is basically 5 or 6 weather maps in a loop from 1am-6am

KEYC still signs off nightly but the overnight programming for cable and satellite is now just rotating weather maps and NOAA weather radio as audio. They still sign off at 1:00 (FOX) and 1:07 (CBS) and sign back on at 5am. The sign off message now says "join us in a few hours" instead of "join us tomorrow"
