do anybody know why sean salsbury left espn

so now that sean is out chris carter is in /i really enjoy sean on football he was one of the smartest guys on espn/memo to cbs, nbc, fox tv,you might wanna scoop this guy up on telcast.

I found Salisbury arrogant and full of himself, a little like Joe Theisman. Give me more John Clayton, Chris Mortensen, and Mel Kiper and less airtime for the ex-jocks.

Sort of reminds me of the Trev Alberts & Dan Patrick situations - both felt that they deserved better treatment by ESPN upper-management and could make more money on the open market.

At the end of Sean's tenure at ESPN, he was promoting a website where he would provide in-depth information for hard-core fantasy/betting types - which I assume he was receiving some monetary return from.

I liked sean a lot and I think he will missed by the people who watched him! I thought he was very good at what he did! Other stations def. need to try and pick this guy up!

both of em?

to each his own but i found him gratingly arrogant with not one interesting comment.
good riddance.

Frankly all of the ex-athletes who attempt to become "experts" make me want to scream. Most offer no substance other than "when I played" style commentary. Plus I rarely if ever hear a ex-player speak the truth about an athlete still competing. Good riddance to all of them if possible.

I thought ESPN let Salsbury's contract expire after he took a picture of well something not nice and sent it around ESPN. I think I remember hearing something about that.

you remember wrong. i remember reading on profootballtalk when was quietly suspended for some shenanigan but was back working and negotiating a new contract. he had made comments that indicated he wanted big raise and/or higher profile apparently espn didn't agree.

he was an ass good riddance.

STL John... you are right... he did want more money... but according to blogs like Deadspin, the Big Lead, and Awful Announcing apparently he had some issues with wanting to send pictures of Lil Sean to some of his female co-workers...

amen to that! Salisbury was a career backup QB from a football factory of a college, it'd be one thing if Theisman, Clayton or Jerry Rice was arrogant but their backups, no.

Right, I recall when he was a backup for the Bolts, dude took maybe a half a dozen snaps during the season.
A legend in his own mind, and a mildly interesting analyst, but nothing more.

If you want to hear a marginal quarterback who is a great analyst, listen to Trent Dilfer. Remember, Dilfer was a Super Bowl Champion
qb with the Ravens, but he knew he was a "don't lose the game" quarterback. Knowing that has kept him very humble, and his insights
are factual and dead-on. There is no ego, just information. I think he will be a star. He has been on with Colin Cowherd, and he is
just a great listen. You will soon forget Salisbury.

I guess he got suspended for that camera phone thing. Whatever he isn't there anymore.
