DO CHICAGOANS LISTEN TO SIRIUS SATELITE RADIO???

Dear Radio Listeners On This Chicago Board,
I am just curius and wanting to know if any of you or do you how many people in Chicago,
who are listening to Sirius Satelite Radio?

The reason why I'm asking, because one day I was sitting at my desk and asking myself
a key question; wondering how many people in Chicago actully really listen to Sirius?

Also, I wonder to myelf how many people in Chicago go to Radio Shack, Best Buy, and Circut City
to go and buy a Sirius reciever?

In addition, Sirius Satelite Radio, Is it popular in the City of Chicago?

Sometime I wonder if am I the only Person in Chicago who really actully listen to Sirius Satelite Radio.
and thinking that no one in Chicago really cares about listening to Sirius Satelite Radio,
but again, I could be wrong if I spoke way too soon.

Do you ever often think and wonder about that from time to time?
At lease I do most often....

Hell yes I listen to Sirius! ;D Sometimes I feel naked without it. I have a couple friends who have it, also, and they're perfectly happy with it. I may have terrestrial radio on in the mornings just to flip through a couple of morning shows, but outside of that I have my Sirius cranked for the tunes. I think it's safe to say that MANY Chicago are residents listen to Sirius. I often see a Sirius radio in people's cars as I drive by.

I must admit (painfully) that I listen to my XM that was included in my car. I got the standard "3 months free" then subscribed to the service.

My teenage kids have some favorite channels they feel they can't get elsewhere, but they still listen most to local stations.

IMHO, the personalities are substandard. I will listen from time to time to CNN or Fox News, but rely on local stations much more, too.

I'm concerned about the XM/Sirius merger killing off radio as we know it.

I listen to Sirius all the time. Basically, after the Zone went off the air and The Loop refusing to be a true rocker, I was forced to go the Sirius route in terms of my radio listening pleasure. I recently went a couple months without it, and let me tell you, it was painfully boring without it in terms of radio listening. Of course Sirius will never be able to replace local AM stations and local sports talk, but as far as music goes, ya just can't get that good shit on the regular chicago airwaves!!!!!!

Well, to me it does NOT matter if it's you listen XM or Sirius, I'm just curious to know if anyone in or from Chicago
actully listen to satelite radio, beside listening to Chicago's local AM or FM radio stations...

If this counts, I listen to XM via DirecTV occasionally.
Sure! it counts also, I'm just curious if anyone in Chicago actully listens to satelite radio from any souce..

I have 2 XM receivers and rarely listen to terrestrial Chicago radio. When I do go back to AM or FM, 98 percent of the time I have the joy of a 10 minute block of commercials. Sat radio was one of the best investments I ever made.

I LOVE my Sirius radios!
I listen at home both online and through Dish Network.

I almost never have terrestrial radio, besides 780 on. The Score and WMVP are both incredibly unlistenable, and I get my sports fix on satellite, along with music.

I don't listen to Sirius or XM and I only know one person who owns Sirius, my brother, he's a big Stern fan he bought Sirius as soon as
Howard left regular radio. The funny thing is he ONLY listens to Stern, he does not listen to any other channels on Sirius. I did tune
around one day and I really liked some of the rock channels, but I personally won't pay to listen to the radio.

I had Sirius for about four years, but I didn't care strongly enough about any of the streams to keep subscribing this year. They used to carry WSM but that flipped to XM, at which point I flipped back to AM 650. The talk stations on Sirius were never as appealing to me as my local choices on WIND, WGN, WLS or WVON. My indoor reception was always a hassle, regardless of the antennas and receivers I used. The WiFi feed (via Stiletto) sounds awful. It's nice not to have to pay that monthly fee anymore, too... There are so many free choices on AM, FM, Internet... Even my Sony PSP has hundreds of free Internet radio stations now, and some have excellent sound quality.

Yes, in the car...Got it with my car in 2005 and subscribed after the free year.

Have the website login, but don't really use it.

I'm a regular with Sirius, with Howard Stern being the primary reason. Nothing else even comes close in the morning. The music channels offer good variety, which isn't hard considering the 500 songs in the library of most Chicago music stations. The other big advantage of satellite is for sports. You can choose from multiple games every night and all weekend as well as the ability to get all of the scores by spinning the dial. I'd go insane if all I had was "Steve from the south side" on the Score complaining about who should bat fifth for the Cubs while sports headlines are being made.

This is exactly why the NAB is fighting the XM and Sirius merger, which would double the power of each service's audience in terms of attracting programming and advertising. The ridiculous part of it is that if AM and FM Radio had kept up any form of quality programming instead of cutting back, censoring, voice tracking, and clusters of commercials, nobody in the Chicago area would even notice that satellite radio existed.
