Do I Need An Agent?

I am being offered a full-time major market gig. I have been doing part-time work for the same company in another major market. I've since learned that I didn't make a very good deal for the part-time gig; I just took what they offered. I don't want to make another bad deal and I don't want to kill this opportunity. I have no idea what the going rate is, what I should accept, what I should ask for? I am not good a haggling.

Do I need an agent or a lawyer to negotiate for me? What are the pluses and minuses of having somebody represent me? And how do I find one and select one? Sorry, but I'm sort of clueless about all this.
 
If you can...discretely...post the general area where the job is located, I'll post the names of several negotiators/agents who have brass balls, i.e., can negotiate a starving dog into giving up a meaty bone.

Don't mind helping; been there recently and willing to share data.
 
Why not call other Talent in this "Major Market"?

How great are you? You should be flattered that your Company wants to move you to Full time in a "Major Market". Obtaining an agent might be the "Kiss of Death" for your new Gig, as well as your Current Gig. Where do you find these "Agents"?. (It's not like your an Athlete, DJ's are a Dime a Dozen). What company are you speaking of (like that would make a difference). What Market are you speaking of. Is it a Full Market Signal? What do you consider good Money? Is it a Union Station? Would Scale be acceptable? If not, why not?
Do your best to negotiate a fair offer, and good luck!
