Yes. Stations that claim otherwise are at the bottom not because they don't subscribe, but because no one listens. Over the years I've worked at a couple stations that made the decision to subscribe based on a marketable showing...they wanted to be able to use the Arb numbers.

Yes, they do. If you're wondering about WATD, they have actually shown up in the Boston book a few times over the years, near the bottom. The last time I saw them make a showing was a couple of years ago.

Realize that WATD's signal only covers a fraction of the greater Boston market very well, so their low showings in the Boston book are not a reflection on the quality of the station. The important thing is that WATD does a great job serving it's main South Shore coverage area with excellent live, local, original programming, and some of us up here in greater Boston strain our antennas (or listen to the stream) to hear it as well. It's one of my favorite stations in the area to listen to.

Re: BUT: WHAT ABOUT PERSONALITY CREDITING?

I can attest to the fact that non-subscriber stations can show up in the ARBs, as WJIB and WJTO have never subscribed to ARB ratings.

But what I'd like to know how Arbitron credits personalities and special programs with stations. In the quarterly questionnaire they send to me, it never asks anymore (not in the past 3 years: approx) to list personalities, nor any scheduling information on specific programs (both of which USED to be asked by Arbitron of EACH station). So, when someone from Foxboro writes in "Rush Limbaugh" (but no call letters nor freq.), does that get credited to WPRO or to WRKO? - or someone from Methuen: credit to WRKO or WGIR?

WATD made a showing in a book once

I remember one time had to be in the last 10 years, that WATD made a showing in the Boston book. It's the only time I have seen them show.
