Do "Talk Callers" represent any real people in society?

I wonder.

Being that every caller on a show is required to 'present their worthiness papers' to call screeners (and wait an hour+ for the show they are calling to mysteriously admit their call), are they even worth considering as a serious callers?

This question now applies to shows where 'tweets' that are submitted are 'presented'...do they ever present the odds of which singular 'viewer presented views' are actually shown in relation to how many they had to choose from?

Not at all if you're judging percentage of callers with a certain point of view on the same scale as the population. There are so many "professional talk show callers" and people with rehearsed points who keep getting let through the screens, because a lot of them screen in accordance with the host's agenda and won't let opposing viewpoints in. Yes, some do, but many do not.

I think callers are TOO real, in the sense of being too earnest in pounding their talking points.

Before screening got so rigid, the occasional crank could get in and spoof the format. A call like that is good now and again, to puncture the balloon, to pull Oz's curtain back and remind people that this is no way to settle the great issues of society.

Now it's not just about promoting the host's agenda, it's also about protecting his pomposity.
