Do the wrll dj's know that thire days are numbered?

Hi,
Do the wrll dj's know that thire days are numbered?
Lately Cleqar Channel has been letting the dj's give hints.
I have not heared any yet on Real Oldies 1690
Or is it still too soon?
I heard Tommy, Larry and Scottey say tthat we will hgear them on Monday.
Or is the change not happening until next month?

Could just be another one of those "radio rumors".

I'm sure they know their days are numbered. How much job security can you have at an oldies station on a weak signal?

David Eduardo seems pretty confident that WRLL will switch to La Preciosa, which I believe since CC has been sweeping that format across the nation.

I'm not sure that there's job security at ANY radio station.

There never has been, just as ther eis no job security on TV sitcoms or dramatic series... jocks must get ratings, sellers must sell, engineers must keep the station on the air. It is a business, not a charity.

Many of the dj's are VT'd in other markets. With that in mind, most of them already are employed at stations in other markets live. So there won't be any real firings at real oldies. I'm not sure if anyone is employed at Real Oldies in Chicago that is physically in Chicago. Larry Lujack does his show from I believe New Mexico,or is it Arizona? I doubt Larry Lujack is really hurting for money. Larry will likely find a different opportunity in radio if it comes his way, and as long as he can do it from home.

I don't know anything about La Preciosa. Does it get better ratings than Air America Radio? CC passed on a chance to put AAR on WRLL a year ago. If WRLL doesn't flip formats, Mr. E would be wrong. And I don't know which I would enjoy more.

Hi,
Dj's like Tommy Edwards, Ron Simth, Len O Kelly and Herb Kent do the show from the WRLL studios.
Can someone please correct me if I am wrong?

larry could care less if he is fired or not. he doesnt have to do this show. they wanted him to do it. anybody remember him leaving wls?? ;D

La Preciosa has done some great things for Clear Channel. A great example would be KEGL in Dallas which it took from next to nothing to #2 in the market.

The only thing with La Preciosa and Chicago is that WPPN already does the format. However WPPN doesn't cover a lot of areas south of the city (where WRLL is) all that well. So it could work.

But Preciosa in Dallas immediately lost to KLNO, Recuerdo. In May extraps, it lost two to one, in fact. Tomorrow will give us the full Spring book.

WPPN is Recuerdo with a different name. Same music and formatics. And it is FM.
