A certain AC station where I live, Magic 98.3, has been slowly adding in CHR songs that just get on my nerves when played on AC stations. Last year, this station didn't play any songs in the style of the songs I listed above. Just last year, I used to be able to listen to that AC station for hours and not hear a song that was so agitating that the office plants would die. We now have 18 different radio stations audible in this area that would play artists like Katy Perry. And I'd be lucky to hear Barry Manilow on one station in this area (before the Christmas radio season).

It's sad that just 6 years ago, Magic 98.3 had a 50s-60s-early 70s oldies show on Saturday nights.
 
Her Diamonds is in what, the top 5 on the AC chart, so most AC's are playing it and would really be dumb not to. Please Don't Leave Me is crawling up the chart. Some AC's were playing Hot N Cold (not sure if as many are now, it hasn't been an AC hit) but I know one of the AC's here never even added it. A lot of stations play "All Star" (but I can't stand it). I've heard one station play Just Dance, and it was a satellite affiliate, and I've never noticed another one play it.

Except for Her Diamonds that stuff is Hot AC material. PCD, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Timberlake don't belong and if I'm not mistaken, none of them (except Hot N Cold which managed to briefly be in the top 10) even did anything on the AC chart. Maybe that station is looking at a Hot AC direction?
