Supposedly,refers to either the '68 Democratic Convention, protesters at Kent State versus the National Guard,or the attempt of the Beach Boys to go after the Beatles style of music. Also, it's been suggested that it could have something to do with the military resistance to the peace movement.(And you thought it was just a little ditty on the radio.)Heavy stuff, huh?<P ID="signature">______________

Don was talking about the beatles...(the marching band was a reference to Sgt. Peppers.. the Beatles rock and roll pushing out folk music) or at least that's what he said in the interview i saw...

Thats really interesting... In all the interviews I've read and seen I've never heard or read that it was the name of a plane...? wonder where they get the information they post?

If not mistaken, in one of the Buddy Holly movies
there is a shot of the Beechcraft Bonanza they
last boarded, with it written on the cowling I think.
Much like people name their boats.

Blinded By The Light, A Clarification.

Blinded By The Light was written by Bruce Springsteen.

The "Deuce" is a reference to a 1932 Ford Hotrod that a friend of Bruce owned. Bruce would sometime snatch the car for a joy ride.

The original title of the song was "Madmans Bummers"

Difference in the Springsteen/Manfred Mann version...
Springsteen sings "Cut loose like a Deuce"..
Mann sings "Wrapped up like a Deuce"

The song is about playing in bands and trying to get a record deal.
"madman bummers" "indians in summer" are band names... as in played with all the bar bands i care too...

Some brimstone baritone anti-cyclone rolling stone preacher from the East
He says, "Dethrone the dictaphone, hit it in its funny bone, that's where they expect it least"
And some new-mown chaperone was standin' in the corner all alone, watchin' the young girls dance
(this is an A & R guy, watching bands in bars)

Some silicone sister with her manager's mister told me I got what it takes
She said, "I'll turn you on, sonny, to something strong if you play that song with the funky break"
(This refers to a girlfriend of Columbia records president that signed Bruce...and we all know who that was ... right?)
