I can't Believe you can't get CBK. Do you get anything on 540, even if you nulled out 550 first then its sideband on 540?

Do you pick up anything on 1010?

"I can't Believe you can't get CBK. Do you get anything on 540, even if you nulled out 550 first then its sideband on 540?"

Welll.........come to think of it, I have picked up some horizontal sync noise off my neighbour's TV set (possibly even mine to add to it) on that frequency before, but not much of anything else..............

Sometimes a longwave navigation beacon, in morse code on 334 ("LAKER" as the FAA knows it) bleeds through onto 540 sometimes. It comes from Troutdale Airport which is also somewhat close by, being just a few miles east of PDX. (But I think that might actually more a problem with how my radios are designed than anything else. I notice it doesn't do that on the Grundig, which I think is quite odd.)

I have gotten CBK once in Astoria, OR several years ago (and the local MW band around Astoria is *very* sparse anyways, so DXing is better there, I think. Especially since it's so close to the coast! ;o) But I have never been able to get CBK here. Yeah, an apartment in SW Washington, this close to a major metro city (Portland), is really not the most opportune place to DX mediumwave!!

1500 KSTP - Yes, at least tonight. At 8 PM PDT as I was driving home from work, I got KSTP with a decent signal for about 15 minutes. I missed the TOH ID, but who else on 1500 would be running ads for Twins baseball?

No WCCO (you'd think they'd be there if KSTP is) but WHAS was also audible for a few minutes. I've never heard them in Phoenix before tonight.

The ionosphere do strange things. ;D

I'm located two hours north-northwest of romer 979 and I have the same condition except for 1010, they are regular along with several other Toronto AM's.

From Northeast MO, as of right now...

540 CBK Something fighting with a Spanish station, sounds sorta like CBC
650 WSM Yup, strong as ever
670 WSCR Day and Night
810 KGO Most likely, never. WHB Kansas City is trying, but being messed with by (POSSIBLY) WGY, which used to be quite regular
830 WCCO Yes but BADLY crowded by WBAP and WHAS
1010 CFRB Mostly garble
1170 WWVA Nope, KFAQ Tulsa, if anything
1190 KEX I seriously doubt ever. WOWO used to be a regular visitor, but not much just now
1500 KSTP There, but struggling, as usual
1530 KFBK Nope, always WCKY. They barge in on local daytimer WLIQ before sunset
1540 ZNS-1 Bahamas Nope, KXEL Waterloo, IA if anything

Near Boston

650WSM - Weak, mixed with low-power night signal of suburban WSRO Ashland, MA
670WSCR- Obscured by adjacent 50 kW WRKO Boston. Can be heard away from metro area.
830WCCO- Was weak here until obscured by co-channel WCRN Worcester, MA.
1170 WWVA- Strong most every night. Small outlying co-channel daytimers must sign off.

The others have no chance here due to distance and closer co-channels.

540 CBK Very rarely, usually covered up by WAUK Jackson, Wi
650 WSM loud & clear everynight--daytime occasionally in winter.
