Do you have a Leon Watch?

Does anyone remember these things? Depending on when you worked in Providence radio, there was a good chance you have or had one because if Engle Tire ran ads where you worked you probably got one free. If you showed it at various merchants you would get a discount. They still sell them, by the way, at www.leonwatch.com as promotional items. If I remember correctly, Engle always had a billboard off 95 with the same caricature that was on the watch. I tossed mine years ago & probably never wore it, but it's nice to know I didn't get rid of anything that was too much of a collector's item.

For a few years Leon was above Dayton Classic Cars on Wellington Ave in Cranston. You can see the building from
Route 95 as it has a scroll with time & temp. Those watches were popular (sorta) if you had one. You could get discounts at restaurants, movies, etc...

Ah the joys of freebies when you work in radio. And you had to pretend to the sponsor it was your prized possession. Makes me wanna raid a prize closet.
