That is a very un-nerving thud or the sound of thousands of radio dials turning.
The thud may be when those's fall diary's come in and YSP is in the 1's
As unbiased, it won't work as is.... unless Philly has gotten into listening to ugly paint dry.
GOOD NEWS
you hit it with "free"... cause who the hell would pay for it?

SOLUTION

Active Rock, 24/7/365. Intense music on the morning drive show, little talk, concentrate on breaking new artists, keep the current playlist but... Add more 90's grunge, 70's and 80's punk and more metal. Results 6.0 in the Winter book, but who really cares, look at the trainwreck YSP is now, and I thought MMR was the king of trainwrecks.

Where is your research coming from this? Did Y in its PEAK ever hit a 6? C'mon now. If those numbers were out there to be gotten SOMEONE would have grabbed em.

Uh-huh. In the 1's with the constant Eagles banter and Eagles coverage? RIIIIIIIIGHT. Oh and they still have Howard for another couple of months.

Yes that above statement sounds completly and totally unbiased.

While we're making up ratings as the man below you is I think Sunny is gonna get a 138430980983403.

I can make up numbers with no reasoning too.

Do you know the definition of un-bias?

I do. I just got a little thrown off. Sides your ratings in the 1s threw me off. Maybe my post just dropped my ratings into the 69000s.

He is bias and one sided, its OK for him to flame anyone who is for Rock, I just ignore him and he will go away, he is wrong in all his assumptions, so why start a flame war.

Actually, If you paid attention like my good friend BobAltimari does. I LIKE Rock music. What I'm questioning is the idiotic ramblings that a station in a FOOTBALL market that is the 6th largest in the nations which hosts a FOOTBALL Team would draw a number in the 1s EVER during football season REGARDLESS of format.

>He is bias and one sided, its OK for him to flame anyone who is for Rock,

Actually, I just provide a counter foil for all you people clammering for an active rock station when that format is in a down swing.

>I just ignore him and he will go away, he is wrong in all his assumptions, so why >start a flame war.

I won't go away. I've been posting on this board since 2002. I'm not wrong in all my assumptions. If I am PLEASE show me where why and how. There is a major decline in rock stations across the country especially active and alt rock stations. While their concerts and CDs continue to sell it has become painfully obvious that the format has been pushed to other mediums such as SatRadio, or Internet Radio (y100rocks.com, radio104.com) or ultimately to iPods and CD's compatible with their cars audio system.

Its a market of supply and demand. There is NO demand for this other than the few hardcore and the maniacs on this board. While Hip Hop is hot... (Fiddy has a movie opening I don't recall seeing a Franz Ferdinand movie.) the market is gonna milk it for ALL its worth. When that cycle ends will see a bunch of the urban influence station take the plunge and we'll see something new who knows maybe it'll be new rock. Maybe Ballads will become the new thing. Maybe Egyptian fricking polka.

All I know is yall talk all reckless about ratings without giving me any fact.

YSP will never EVER do in the 1s no matter what the format as long as the eagles are in season or NEAR season.

I don't THINK a modern rocker in the market had hit a 6. I'm not sure. But I can gaurentee if it came about now it wouldnt hit a 6 like I said before, if the money was there to be taken someone would take it.

Don't just dismiss my posts cause I bash you. I back my stuff up. I have no urge to come out here and have myself proven an idiot. If I say somethin I'll back it up if I make a mistake I'll own up to it. See below. I'm an incredibly intelligent articulate human being who is sick of the same argument being brought up with out any backing.

> I don't THINK a modern rocker in the market had hit a 6.

If you add up Y100, DRE, and PST in the mid-90's you get a 7-share, but no, no single modern rocker has ever come near a 6. Y100 peaked a little above a 4 share.

Y100 and PST were classified as "Alternative CHRs" back then.

YSP came close to having this sound - unfortunately in the last few months, it's sounded as safe and dull as WMMR. I personally find Free-FM to be an improvement over where it was before - I'm certainly listening more.

But for the people who find MMR a little too tame and mainstream (i.e. the majority of those who listened to YSP and Y-100, there should be an alternative. WZBH ( 93.5 The Beach - http://www.wzbhrocks.com ) in Delaware has a great Active Rock template that consist of plenty of currents, lots of '90s rock with the occasional classic act (Ozzy, AC/DC) thrown in for good measure. This station also has excellent personalities - combine these factors and no wonder why it's thriving in its market. If there was a station in Philly that sounded like this, it would be a solid performer.

I am curious, when you say you enjoy FREE-FM, is it the talk portion or the music. IMHO, after 7PM and weekends, aside from the sports, they really know how to rock.

Certain talk spots and also the music. It seems to me that the music has taken a modern slant, although it's not as heavy as I would like it to be (i.e. Why are they playing Fall Out Boy?) and they still aren't playing as many currents as I would like them to (but I guess that's to be expected). I enjoy the music programming but I wish they would do more to differentiate it from what WMMR is playing.
