Do you remember this horror flick?

My nephew in law asked me about this old b & w movie from the 50's.... I seem to remember it but can't place a title to it. The plot was a woman was decapitated in a car wreck (no not Jayne Mansfield) her boyfriend took her head and put it in a container and kept it alive in a cellar. That's all he can remember. Anyone remember this movie? The title? He grew up in L. A. and remembers seeing it on a L. A. station. I grew up in upstate N. Y. and recall seeing it on a Syracuse station but neither of us can recall anything else about the movie. I'll bet it was an American International release!

Sounds like it might be a 1962 movie, The Brain That Wouldn't Die, but I could be wrong. Don't remember the details, just remember a guy in high school who liked all those old weird flicks, i.e. The Man With The X-Ray Eyes, Humanoids From The Deep, The Blob. Of course, as an electrical engineering student he also used to like to go to the drive-in movies and engineer their speakers, so that we could all have quadraphonic sound in the van. After the movie was over he carefully put the speaker back the way he found it before we all left. Had running water and everything in that van, man.

I think MST3K did that one once..."We find that music relaxes the corpse."

MST3K featured "The Brain that Wouldn't Die" in its season 5, episode 13 (which has made YouTube--first part below):

And unless I've forgotten or was unaware (as I haven't watched much of the last few seasons' episodes), I'm surprised The Simpsons haven't yet spoofed "The Brain that Wouldn't Die" for one of their Treehouse of Horror episodes. (But maybe I just gave the writers an idea ;D ;D ;D )

...The Brain that Wouldn't Die appears to be next weekend's scheduled flick for Elvira's Movie Macabre on ThisTV. Elvira's ThisTV screenings usually run one or two weeks later than the broadcast affiliates' screenings; this movie was last weekend's offering over KUVI/v45 in Bakersfield...

I'm shocked that no one has mentioned the other name for the movie, "The Head That Wouldn't Die." The beginning title card has the title has "The Brain That Wouldn't Die," and yet the end title card has the title as "The Head That Wouldn't Die." Though the official name of the movie is "The Brain That Wouldn't Die."

Very funny MST3k episode, also the first one with Mike Nelson as the host.

Here's one for you all: Chronos. Look that one up in your Funk and Wagonals. Is it out there somewhere?

Never heard or seen "Chronos," but based off the IMDB article about it, it sounds like "Koyaanisqatsi."

I suppose this is why my parents were so reticent to let me watch
Chiller Theater on WIIC-TV in Pittsburgh when I was a kid. They knew it
would lead to questions like this which would be keeping me awake many
decades into the future. :D

I saw "Chiller Theater" only a couple of times as a kid staying at my grandparent's house due to the fact they had cable. What a hoot! Loved it!

Steve Lucinski (a.k.a. Stefan the Castle Prankster, the midget on Chiller Theater)
passed away a couple of years ago. His family owned an auto repair business.
I remember one day he showed up on my street in a big flatbed rig to tow away a broken
down Dodge. Was kinda cool to watch a guy his size haul off with such a big load.
