"Dobie Gillis" status?

It's odd that Beatty woudl be ashamed of his work in TV - If you check his credits, his career started in television - mostly in guest shots on episodic TV, including some first-rate drama anthologies of the time - Playhouse 90 and Kraft Theatre, for example. He played a recurring character on Dobie, but he only did 6 episodes.

Wasn't this the case of Barbara Streisand and her 1972 film "Whats Up Doc?"? A movie that did very very well at the box office and was hit with most critics as well as making both her and Ryan O'Neal a TON of money...yet over the years from what I had been told is that she was "ashamed" of this movie and tended to get quite nasty to anyone who would dare bring up "Whats Up Doc?" TO Babs. Talk about a "mystery"? Hmmmmmmmm

I'm surprised, because I saw the movie and liked it. I wonder how she feels about "Funny Lady", I also enjoyed it but I hear that it bombed.

There have been times when what's on TV has been so much better than the movies, especially lately.
