I have heard from the longest time.Bill Evans refer to himself as a doctor, and I read when he was busted for allegedly punching his wife that the "doctor" is from an honorary doctorate he Received from some tiny unknown college. Isn't this a misrepresentation of being an actual doctor? I was once made an honorary minister at a local church. Does that mean I can put a clergy tag in my car and park anywhere? I'm shocked cumulus allows this sham to continue. I wonder if the FCC would have a problem with this misrepresentation of being a certified doctor?

It was Bob Harris who was not a doctor
I had to drive to NY today and also listened to WABC and he did not call himself a "doctor." I'm sure the station must have told him to cut that out.
IMHO that's a serious misrepresentation to make to people and coupled with his prior situation of allegedly beating his wife which was in the newspapers for me his credibility is lost. I think the radio station should seriously evaluate their own position in standing by this guy. It sets a very bad precedent for their company to make. The whole "wife punching" issue was bad enough. Now claiming daily he's a "doctor" when he apparently should not have been using that title drops both his and WABC's credibility into the toilet. At least the station did the right thing here.

Apparently DOCTOR Evans didn't get the memo. He is still calling himself DOCTOR on WANT radio Has he did this morning. Years ago I was made honorary principal of a school. That does not make me a teacher. this doctor scam disintegrates the radio stations credibility. Shame on whoever is in charge there.

as for the doctor thing, yeah, I never cared for that mention either. I still think in most cases you only get that honorary if you donate a certain amount of money to a cause somewhere, right?

But the point is a guy with his stature in the media should NEVER have allowed this to escalate to what it apparently became according to the newspaper accounts. It's clear both he and his wife could use some help.
As for the "PLJ Facebook page" I would have to believe any negative postings would have been taken down at once so as to not embarrass him or Scott and Todd. You are right about the doctor title. If it was an honorary thing some school gave him for giving a speech he has done a disservice to himself and the radio station and he should cease & desist at once. I would have to think someone complained to Cumulus Radio about it and rightly so. I think the station has lost a lot of credibility for letting him parade as a doctor for so long. IMHO

Seriously, it sounds like it was very volatile, and had been going on for some time. I do agree that they both appear to need help and that it's a very sad situation...but again, we know nothing other than the allegations made in the media. Nobody here knows what really happened.

Clearly he has never been in a divorce situation. Try living with two parents who wake you up at 12AM in the morning because they are arguing so loudly, you can hear it through walls. Divorces make people go absolutely batshit crazy, even when it's not your own! 2006-2009 where the most DEPRESSING years of my life. What's worse though, is when the yelling stops, and the cold shoulders begin, as they live in the same house. Then you're ALWAYS on edge, wondering when something is going to flare up. I have no social life..everyone I know is married or working two jobs so I was stuck in the house most of the time just worrying. there is no stopping that escalation. It's divorce...these kinds of things happen. I'm glad PLJ understands that at least. And they both couldn't have been injured too badly...they kept on fighting! for all we know, both press statements where exaggerated to try and kill off his career, and her reputation.
You just have to hope things don't get so bad and heated that you manage to STILL keep your cool. clearly this didn't happen here. And I think the PLJ staff, and most PLJ listeners seem to understand that. If it truly was self defense, I think many people here are willing to give benefit of the doubt. and if you read their FB page, they tend to not police it. lots of spam, lots of WTF posts...
