WLEV should have good signal coverage in Reading, PA, but yet they have a translator station there on 98.5. Is it really needed to fill in a gap in coverage of the main 100.7 signal? And do the locals even know it's there? WLEV gives a legal ID of "W253AC, Reading" on the air every hour, but they don't even mention what frequency it's on.
And speaking of translators, the WDDM translator on 100.7 in Edison, NJ is really doing a job on the Eastern extreme of WLEV's coverage in central NJ. Anywhere East of the Somerville Circle / Bridgewater Commons Mall area, WLEV starts getting really spotty and you start hearing the Indian music from the Edison signal. But yet, WLEV's traffic reports still mention incidents in Bridgewater. For example they reported an accident on Route 22 at Vosseller Avenue. At that spot, if you have 100.7 on your car radio, all you hear is the WDDM translator and/or static. But I suppose it's still good for people who live or work within WLEV's remaining NJ coverage area but drive in that direction on their commute.
