Does any one know of P/T Swing openings?

I do weekends and fill for KQC and we are fine as far as I know.

You might want to check with Todd Haygood at Clear Channel about part time at LYT or their other stations, Todd is in charge of all the part timers, he's a great guy. They may have an opening for a monitor (people who take care of the automation)but I haven't talked to anyone there in awhile.

Best of luck and let us know where you end up.

Thank you that is very nice! You're a pro! I do fulltime TV and Radio in Columbia...looking to get into the Queen City.

Again, thank you!

No problem, I believe we all need to help each other. There are a lot of really nice folks in radio here in Charlotte. People have helped me lots of times and I believe you get what you give. I saw where there was a full time afternoon drive opening at WSOC-FM but I don't know who you would see about that.

Since you are doing TV and radio the logical place to go would be WBT/WLNK/WBTV. I did weekends and fill years ago at WBT and it was a great experience.

Keep trying, timing is everything! It might be a little hard to break in since people don't move around as much as they once did. It's probably due to the big group owners.

Good luck!

I sent an aircheck and resume' for the 'SOC job...you have to send it to DJ Stout. He e-mailed me back and told me he needed more from my aircheck to prove anything to him. I told him that was a problem since I left the last real place around here to make a decent aircheck in June of '05. Actually, I didn't leave by choice...they told me they needed to make a change. I did get a little bit of redemption, though...I was the number one jock in the last book I was there. Of course, that don't pay the bills, but it sure felt good!

You never know what they're looking for. One guy says you talk too much, the other not enough. One thing for sure local topical content is always good.

Hey at least you got an answer! You might try asking him if you can come up and do an audition tape for the job. Then come up, listen to the station write down the live promos they do, carefully rewrite them to fit your style and scan the newspaper for local content before you audition. Do something on NASCAR or the next country artist coming to town. The worst thing he can say is no. If you can convince him you'll go the extra mile to get the job he just might hire you. Don't take no for an answer.

Country is an adult format still playing new hits. The artists are more approachable and still alive! You can get old in the format and still keep your job, unlike top 40 where you age out of the demo. Edd Robinson is still working in Country radio at WFMX and he's got to be in his mid-60's! I'm sure he has a ton of loyal listeners from his days at WAME and WSOC-FM.

Just some thoughts running through my mind. Heck I should follow my own advice!
