Does Anybody Remember Rhythm 94.3

I remember listening to Rhythm 94.3 from in 1999 until 2001, because it was a terrific radio station playing jammin' oldies. Rhythm 94.3 was a better radio station than what WNEW is still doing in New York City at Mix 102.7 still playing some classic dance music when Rhythm 94.3 was a couple of years ago. I do miss that station since it flipped from jammin' oldies to straight oldies from the 50's and 60's as "Cool 94.3". For those of you had never heard the last song before the flipped to real oldies was "Last Dance" by Donna Summer. I've never listened to since Thanksgiving 2001 while I was away in New York City. I remember CJ was doing mornings as "The Morning Rhythm Show" while he was doing afternoons on another station, Kiss-FM (still doing his "CJ Playhouse" morning show), Russ Hanson and Lou Brown. I also remember Al Bandiero doing weekends as "Jammin' Party" or "The Party" on Rhythm 94.3. I used to taped it off the radio but it was fun. As anybody remember that?

Rhythm 94.3 was the former WBPM FM Kingston/Poughkeepsie. Yes it was a dance format and it was well loved by the dance audience who listened.

But since dance is struggling because of corporate radio, that doesnt mean that dance radio isnt profitable.

Go Figure.

In New York City, they have "Mix 102.7" and KTU both still has their dance format running. In the Hudson Valley, not a dance market in that area because Rhythm 94.3 was a terrific station playing classic dance music in the Hudson Valley, just like WNEW and KTU does now. If you look carefully in the Hudson Valley, they got oldies like WBPM's "Cool 92.9" and WCZR's "Cruisin' 93.5" where it simulcast on WCKL at 560 AM and even country stations like "The Wolf" at 94.3 and 97.3 as well as WRWD at 107.3. "Kiss-FM" at 96.1 still plays hip-hop & R&B instead of top 40/CHR. A few years back, "Kiss-FM" in Poughkeepsie decided to go after K104, because K104 it's a top 40 station. But it didn't work, so it chose "Kiss" to become a local hip-hop station. I think that CC's "Kiss" in any other market is still has their CHR running, but in Poughkeepsie, not happening. "Kiss" should be a CHR/Top 40 format in every CC market. K104 still got their top 40 running, The three Lite-FM's has AC, WPDH, WRRV and WDST has rock. WCZX's "Mix 97.7" has Hot AC, not classic dance like WNEW does. WBWZ has Adult Hits as "Star 93.3". Right now, there are no classic dance stations in the Hudson Valley right now. If you want more classic dance, watch Music Choice or listen to it on Live 365. If not, try satellite radio. This would help.

Kiss was always a rhythm CHR, to call them a pure hip-hop station is totally innaccurate. Compare playlists and see how many songs K-104 and Kiss share. Secondly what didn't work? Kiss beats K-104 in every major demographic except for 12+ and they've even beaten them in 12+ on two other occasions.

You're right "Kiss-FM" at 96.1 is a hip-hop station just like the two stations in New York City Power 105 and Hot 97, the way that is meant to be. Up in Albany, "Kiss-FM" at 102.3 still has its CHR/Top 40 format running, but hip-hop does not count except for 96.1.
