Does Anybody Remember the CBS-FM's New York Top 500?

I remember when WCBS-FM since it was an oldies station where they used to have the "New York Top 500 Countdown". It was heard every Thanksgiving for so many years. That was before the station became "Jack" and everyone who missed the "Top 500 Countdown". It's been a year since the station didn't have a "New York Top 500 Countdown". I missed that special since last November, because it was my favorite year-long special. :'( I have the link to the old CBS-FM website from the Internet Archive and you might all the songs that I usually love so much for so many years. It went from "California Sun" at #500 to "In the Still of the Nite" at #1. Here are the lists of songs that you'll remember when WCBS-FM was an oldies station where they used to have a "New York Top 500".

I remember last year when WCBS-FM flipped from oldies to "Jack", I was so heart broken that New York lost my favorite oldies station. I have WBPM up in Saugerties, NY where they still play oldies, but it does not come into New York City when it was 100 miles away where New Yorkers don't have an oldies station. Thanks to my iPod. I went to the Internet Archive under the old WCBS-FM website that they have the Top 500 survey. I put all the 500 songs in order on my iTunes and then put it on my iPod to make the "New York Top 500" playlist. I hit shuffle where it goes right after song #68 and then to song #263 and then to #45 to #390, to #258 and so on. That where I create my own playlist. Thanks to my iPod, CBS-FM is not oldies anymore, now it's "Jack!", If I don't listen to "Jack", I should listen to my iPod and hear my favorite oldies under the "CBS-FM New York Top 500" playlist. 8)

I miss that countown too. I have a copy of the one from 1985 which had two songs from that year on it. If memory serves me right, the last few years of the New York Top 500 were not listener voted. The countown was put together courtesy of the consultants :mad:
 
"In the Still of the Nite" was the #1 Oldie of All Time on CBS-FM's NY Top 500

I was listening to "In the Still of the Nite" on another oldies station "Cool 92.9" WBPM where it was part of Rick McCaffery's "Solid Gold Jukebox". That song was played at 10:14 PM. It was the #1 song played on CBS-FM's New York Top 500 as listed on the survey for a long time. I know why New York radio geeks remembered that song? The song was part of CBS-FM for years before "Jack" came along. I do really missed it. :(
