Does anybody Remember the KCET and KTEH Store of Knowledge back from 1996-200?

I remember KTEH used to advertise the store of Knowledge stores all over San Jose and KCET Store of Knowledge all over the southland during the Dot Com Boom. Does it still exist today or are stations like KCET and KTEH relies on their web sales during the pledge period.

The "Store of Knowledge" was a chain store with locations throughout the nation, often teamed up with the local PBS station in the areas they were located. I recall Tampa (WEDU) and Ann Arbor (WTVS Detroit) also having Stores of Knowledge as well, until the chain went belly-up.

And for me, remembering KPBS also had the Store in Knowledge with locations around San Diego and it offered a 10% discount coupon certificate to to Store of Knowledge during membership campaigns(1995-2000)!!

As was correctly stated by @azumanga, there were nearly 100 "Store of Knowledge" locations throughout the country at one time, usually in partnership with or using the name of that city's PBS station (some are listed above..Others included stores in Pittsburgh with WQED, WGBH in Boston had them, etc.). The Store of Knlowledge company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2001, stopped giving discounts to PBS and NPR membership holders and closed several stores immediately.

According to one PBS station, they didn't actually have any investment tied up in the stores, they simply got a cut of the sales in exchange for the use of their name/call letters so they weren't impacted financially when the stores closed, but they obviously lost that exposure they received when people saw the stores in places like malls and airports.
