Does anyone at WRKO read the papers?

I wanted to talk about this topic about Boston Now, however the only place that it fits here is on "Off The Air", and I am not entirely sure if people from this folder read over there at all, Radiorama excepted.

or notice there is one less in Boston today?

It was in the Metro, It was in the Herald, even made the Globe

But someone over at Guest Street wasn't smart enough to pull the spots that have the promotional tie in with the now defunct paper from running during the Howie Carr show today.

Yep, the denizens of Guest Street East have nothing better to do all the live-long day than read the papers. And, of course, just on the basis of a newspaper article, they would pull spots off the air. Right. ::)

Anyone else want to take a shot at reality?

My point is a business they are a media partner with goes belly up, it is in every paper in Boston, you do a weekly segment with them on Thursday mornings, they are poof gone. Nobody notices this and they keep running the promos.

How many WRKO listeners, besides me, were sitting in their car scratching their heads going "excuse me but didn't they go out of business yesterday?"

Given the abysmal circulation figures for newspapers lately, I'd guess: not too many.

News flash: The entire world does not need surgery because you have a tummy ache. Or, perhaps more to the point: Given the state of the radio business these days, WRKO probably doesn't have the staff available to sit around all day and read newspapers to find out what businesses went under. I also suppose this has never happened before to any other radio station, ever...right?
