Does anyone besides me think AC today is a joke?

There is a great difference between what oldies76 did to get around a password problem and these hit-and-run guest postings. Oldies did not make an attempt to conceal who he was, he simply abandoned an old login that was not working and created a new one which was close enough to the old one that it was obvious he was the same person. (Despite the fact that we sometimes argue, I do have respect for his honesty and openness.

Thanks KM for your comments. I've toned it down quite a bit lately and frankly, there's no need to return to the old arguments anymore about playlists...etc.. Regular discussions are fine by us, if you'd like. And thanks to the moderators for clearing things up. I thought there was a time when a registered poster could not have more than one account, that's all.

I appreciate that. Apparently I looked at the fact the station was going to play 60s music and made an assumption. I didn't like the station when it was "Yes" so what you're saying is it'll be worse.

I have an idea what this may be like. I was in a mall yesterday and there were songs of the type an AC these days might play, except they were old. And yet I heard something soft from The Jackson 5 and "Horse with No Name" from America. Not 60s, but certainly very much out of character for this high-energy music tha does not contribute to my shopping experience.

Thanks for trying to get this discussion back on track.

I can see that now.

I was hoping for more commentary on Movin 94.5 that I could add but the actual thread on that subject doesn't have anything.

And since where I live it's just Rush and other talk show hosts, I can't add my thoughts.

I know! I don't know whether WMAG has Delilah on Sunday evenings but I was pleasantly surprised to hear "My Life" by Billy Joel last Sunday. Followed by the same old garbage that seems too loud to be called AC.

I remember commenting somewhere that "Roar" by Katy Perry was one of the few songs of hers I could stand, and yet I heard something annoying somewhere and it turned out to be that song.

Not AC in that mall I was in, but "Lean On Me" was still annoying when blasted from speakers as it was. Yet I remember that one being on what was called "soft rock" radio. The same channel had "As Long As You Love Me" which was by one of those boy bands. I had been having a miserable day and the least they could do was give me music that would calm me down. The Bojangles where I ate had "Reminiscin'". See, that's how you do it. Again, probably not AC.

You need to get used to the fact that not everyone has your taste in music and you’re going to run into other styles outside of your home.

No, actually I don't. Background music should be just that. If it makes the shopping experience worse rather than better, it shouldn't be there.

YOUR shopping experience. Not that of the 18-44 female disproportionately represented in the aisles of most supermarkets. For most of them, sleepy MOR is their parents' or grandparents' music. It would detract from their shopping experience.

Yeah, well, if the volume is too loud the people in charge are going to hear about it. At my grocery store the music volume is at a respectable level. The last time it wasn't, the corporate headquarters was hearing from me. I couldn't care less about what those 18-44 females want.

Geez, bring an mp3 player or your old Walkman with you, or wear earplugs. Or put up with songs you don't like for 20 precious minutes and do your shopping. I'm 60, and schlock like "Reminiscing" would make me wish I'd brought an iPod if I heard it at Stop & Shop. Better "Hey Soul Sister" or "Unwritten" or "Teenage Dream" than that!

I don't have to bring anything, and I'm not getting earplugs, and I never had a Walkman.
