DOES ANYONE CARE?

Haver you ever noticed, another format that corporate managers think nobody's around to listen to or even cares about is not promoted: classic country. Mostly in E Tn its on puny AM's with Swap Shop(sorry James)and obituary colums. Besides classic rock and the pop tunes of the 70's and 80's, I liked the country of the day. I fortunately have seen a few of the old country artists from that time in person at the Grand Ole Opry.
Today's country and artists suck (Taylor Swift, she can't sing and she's not cute either). When they put Jessica Simpson on the Opry stage a while back, that knocked the integrity of that historic show down a few notches-duh? I'm looking for Santa to bring me an XM or Sirius so I can listen to what I want. CC and Citadel bums need to grow up. Enough beefing. I'm foaming at the mouth. Woof!

First of all, I think Taylor Swift is beyond beautiful.

I couldn't name one song she sings, but she is gorgeous!

Hot, blonde, Daisy Duke on the Opry Stage? Dallas Cowboys' quarterback's girlfriend? I can see it.

Then again, I don't wax poetic for Minnie Pearl.

But despite that, the fact is I do agree with you. I think a classic country station on FM would go, and I am literally shocked there aren't more.

Im not an export on the format, but I like country classics alot better than the Bubble Gum Cheese Pop that was around in the late 70s and early 80s.. Im a CHR fan, but if WOKi and WKSF werent Rock leaned and Skewed away from the Cheese that Johnny Pirkle wouldnt play.. I dont think I would have grown up as a CHR fan... Anyway,,, AM 650 WSM in Nashville is just about the best Country station still in existence..... They should put a good usuable night time signal into the tri Cities, and well beyond at night... I live in indiana now, about 5 hrs from WSM in Nashville, thats about the same distance as you, so you should be able to get a strong to moderate night time signal on WSM am 650 at night...

Plus, i doubt they still play any, but when WKSF Asheville changed from CHR top 40, to Country they used to play alot of 80s and a sprikle of 70s on there.. I doubt they sound like that now, its probably just the over comercialized and a waste of a very very powerful signal. If you can pick up 101.1 from hazard KY,, its a pretty good country station, they broadcast in mono to increase coverage and reduce static multipath noise in the mountains, you should be able to hear it in the tri cities without too much effort.

Like I said, im no expert on the format, but you would think Tennessee out of all places would have the best programed Country stations around,, Catering from everything from the classics, to a well balanced Mainstream CHR with a mix of old and new, and also a Hot Country format with just todays hits,, which would be like the Young Country format,, and that should be the only station playing Taylor Swift or Jessica Simpson... Carry Underwood ETC... I admit that I dont mind hearing Taylor Swift on CHR or Hot AC, but she is just not country enough for the format,,, I hate Jessica Simpson with a Passion on any format,, and Carry Underwood is the only one that is actually cute, and maybe deserves play on the Hot Country-Young Country stations. Carry Underwood does have a beautiful voice, i just think her whole image is more POP-hot AC...
