I hardly ever see any posts in "Promotions". This could be a great resource but no one uses it.
Edited by promovet on 08/02/05 07:25 PM.

So then why does nobody reply to posts? I can't believe that no one has done any creative car dealership promotions that they are willing to share

Not sure, maybe they want t6o keep their good ones to themselves. Remember, you have to give a reason for your listeners to come out. A t-shirt or a CD doesn't always cut it. mass quantities of tickets to a movie permiere, or festival, rather than 2 or 3 pair- how about 20 pair, just show up and win!.

Remember, your 'yob is to get the people there, it is the sales people at the dealership to make the sale.

The only problem with the "Just show up" is that they are not there for a car they are there for tickets...I have a bunch of great events planned, I just wanted to see if there was something new and fresh...giveaways just don't cut it anymore...clients are looking for events

I TOTALLY AGREE! We could be such a great asset to each other!

Check here often! There have been some good ideas posted here. Agree there should be more postings, and sharing of ideas.

So then why does nobody reply to posts?...

I would LOVE to brainstorm and learn from you all...but, my current job has me on-air AND as a Promotion Director for two stations: as it is, I've had my ass chewed for failing to "get it done" when in comes to promotions (to be up-front, I care more about the airshift...I think the only reason I still have the job is that they have no one else to replace me).

Pray for me...

Unfortunately, radio promotions have gone the way of carts. There was a time when stations had a full time promo director who did...just promotions. They were not the midday guy or the asst. music director. They also had a full time assistant. The sad thing is that radio was like this not too long ago.

Today, promo and marketing are generated by a central office, which handles several stations. How they can possible know your AC station from the other AOR station? They think no one notices. But listeners do.

There are stations out there that still have promo person who just does promos. Until we get the generic-ness of corporate radio out of the biz, we'll be stuck with what we have.

Oh yeah...I look at this section and think about the old days!
