Does anyone know what happened to Jim Bohanon?

The Larry King affiliate station that I worked for (30 years ago!) carried NBC radio news at the time. So whenever Bohannon guest-hosted, it was weird to go to NBC radio news, anchored overnights back then by Camille Bohannon, who I found out was his ex-wife.

This seems like a station that watches for such things.

You've never heard outdated promos and commercials?

I worked for a station 2011-2014 that ran Americas best music... before they crap canned all the jocks. i came back in 2017 and still running, 2 years after they fired everyone. .were lines voiced by carl hampton and jeff rollins.. i yanked them lickity split.

As an aside, the brewery that took over the old KICK 1340 studios on the old Route 66 in the heart of Springfield, MO, where Jimbo got his first radio job, closed suddenly about a month ago. I got to tour that facility about 15 years ago after Meyer bought KTOZ 1060, which moved in there after KICK left. I always thought it was odd that the old mailroom for KTOZ had thousands of dollars worth of brewing equipment when I'd visit Lost Signal Brewing.

I haven’t listened to him in ages. I remember babysitting his show a few times at KFRU in Columbia, MO during, and immediately after, my college years, and it was usually enjoyable. As someone who always hated talk radio, regardless of the viewpoint, Jimbo was always open-minded and inoffensive.

Last time I heard him was probably 2012 when I spent the night in Enterprise, AL, a market where the show was carried. His guest out of the chute was Darrell Waltrip of NASCAR driving and commentating fame. It was a nice change from all-politics all-the-time.

What's wrong with having them do station IDs?

it wasnt a station Id, they were promoting their shows.. wqhich had been AX'ed 2 years ago by WW1

And even if it had just been station IDs, if theyd mentioned their names, id still remove them

Okay, that makes sense. WIOZ in the Fayetteville NC area had their voices but I don't think they said anything that suggested they were still there. I hear that station on the way to the beach.

No longer being under contract, they may no longer have rights to their voices or names.

I would think if your station is no longer under contract to the network, you legally shouldn't be using those voices

We were still under contract..... WW1 simple AXE'd the entire Americas best music air staff and automated the process, but we kept one of their talent as voiceover which they were ok with

Back to the original post... I think some stations carry Jim Bohannon thinking his show is mostly interviews with authors and celebrities of the past. Many don't want the usual very conservative national politics heard on most nationally syndicated talk radio shows.

But Bohannon's substitute is doing a fairly standard far right political show. I haven't listened much but it sounds like all the guests follow the conservative radio agenda.

WGN Chicago and All-News KNWN-AM-FM in Seattle are two stations that run ONLY Jim Bohannon late at night, no other syndicated talk shows. I'm sure they chose it thinking it would not be a very partisan political show.

Is there any update on where Bohanon is? His social media still hasn’t been updated since April.

I don’t think he has many affiliates in the southeast these days. I can’t think of any affiliates off the top of my head, at least prominent ones.

Here's an update from three weeks ago. It doesn't provide any information than what we've already heard.
