Does anyone know when KMIC's license comes up for renewal again?

Some of you may not agree with it, but I'd like to know. I'm beginning to think that their absolute negligence of the station warrants a petiton to deny to be filed on them. It has been a month since KMIC has operated anything audible at night and if the FCC isn't aware of it, they should be.

At the very least, maybe it would get their attention and make them fix the nighttime audio. If your going to have nighttime authorization, then you should use it.

Thanks,
pd

You can send the FCC information anon at [email protected] a Hotmail address for true secrecy....
Tell them about the issue and possibly include a wav file of the loss of audio and it going dead air....plus I would have WWV on another track or in the background to verify they miss a TOH ID....

One thing that should be brought up is the possibility that the station is doing directional antenna work, and, because the audience for Disney is severely diminished after "bedtime" they may be doing such work at that time. Much directional work demands a carrier on the air, but no modulation.

Just a thought.

If I'm not mistaken, the license comes up for renewal when Mickey's big hand is on the Twelve and his little hand is on the Six. :D

The license was renewed back in 05....you'll have a while to wait if you want to challenge the license.

You're right. I didn't make reference to the "challenge" window when I posted that info earlier. But in the meantime, since KMIC has been operating as a "daytime-only" instead of "unlimited time" station as specified on their license, dropping a line to the FCC might not do any harm.

Ironically, Radio Disney has filed another complaint about possible interference to KMIC from a proposed 19,000 watt nighttime signal for KILE 1560 (soon to be KGOW). Let's see...you're complaining about interference from another station that's not on the air yet, and your own station is not on the air. Sounds like David Gow might want to point that out when he responds to the latest Disney "informal complaint."

CW, thanks for the info. I followed your instructions, and hopefully it does some good. I have no beef with Radio Disney, and having an 11 year old son, it's nice to have it as an option on the dial. That is, when it's ON the dial. Hopefully, this will bring attention to the situation, as obviously the engineer is asleep at the wheel.

A question to David E. If what you stated is indeed the case, wouldn't they have to run off of auxillary power while they were working on the main antenna? I didn't know it was legal to just cease transmission.

A 24 hour station is not required to broadcast 24 hours.

if they cant properly go to night pattern or power at sunset... they may shut off....

It is legal to sign off after you have completed at leats, i think, 60 percent of your broadcast day
