Does anyone know why South 107.1 is not broadcasting NASCAR on 7/26/09?

Does anyone know why South 107.1 is not broadcasting NASCAR on 7/26/09? Could it be that IMS has a special radio deal that South 107 could not get hooked up on?

Maybe it's the same reason a station in our market here in Montgomery, Alabama quit carring NASCAR... no numbers and couldn't sell it to anyone.

IMS Has its Own Radio Network for its Races, PRN helps with the Staffing for the brickyard. but you have to have a deal with the IMS network for the Brickyard 400. unless they put the Brickyard as some sort of package with PRN. Here in Indianapolis WNDE broadcasts all Nascar Races save the Brickyard because it being on the IMS Network and the IMS network Flagship Station is WFNI/WLHK and they get the rights for the 400 due to the Deal with IMS. which ends up Shutting WNDE out of one NASCAR race a year. Unfortunately for WNDE it just happens to be the race in its own Backyard

IMS is its own animal. Whoever has the rights to the Indy 500 ends up with the Brickyard too. In many places longstanding Indy 500 rights holder trump the NASCAR signal in town for holding the package that includes the Brickyard

To get the Brickyard 400, you have to agree to carry (and pay for) the Indy 500. You also have to agree to carry those events in their entirity, so for the many stations that would just be getting the package for the NASCAR race, they're obligated to pre-empt the Coke 600 if the Indy 500 runs long due to weather, etc.

I noticed that too,WNGC wasn't running the race either nor was the Bear or 92.3 in Monroe. That isn't right to make these stations buy the Indy 500 just to get the Brick Yard. I know when 106.7 had Nascar they carried the Iny 500 and Brick Yard 400.

Why isn't it right? It's there ball the can do whatever they want. They have the leverage and they are going to stick to their principles. More times it must work more than not or they would shop them separately.
