Does anyone listen to Lexington stations in The Ville?

I know 92.9 has a pretty good signal in most of Jefferson County, also 98.1 does pretty good. Even WMXL 94.5 has a listenable signal in the east part of the city around middletown but fights with 94.7 farther west. Now that 104.3 is gone you can even get 104.5 THE CAT in Louisville's east end, but it sometimes fights with WJJK Indianapolis, but only on very sensative car radio's, an average radio wouldnt pick up WJJK in The Ville. Lets See, what other (FM) Lexington stations make it into The Ville, I think 96.9 makes it into Jeff County, but with a pretty weak unusable signal, I know 100.1 Double Q doesnt really make it past Shelbyville, and 102.5 and 107.9 both have really weak signals and have first adjacents in The Ville, so they are out of the question. I cant remember what the whole Lexington Fm dial looks like, can anyone enlighten me on what Lexington stations have a usable signal in any part of Jefferson county....Thanks Guys...

I'll bet Chrisalcorn can get them ALL on his Pioneer SuperTuner 3 in his car. ;D

I had a pioneer Super Tuner in my car up until I bought my new Mazda 3. First of all, I couldn't pick up pretty much any Lexington station in Louisville. Secondly, the car tuner I got with my Mazda is usually just as good if not better at receiving distant signals.

I could actually get WJJK about 30% of the time in my old car in Fern Creek. Both of them also have to fight off 104.5 from Nashville.

In Shelbyville, I'd say the Lexington stations-in particular 92.9 and 98.1-hold their own against the Louisville stations based on what I hear in stores and from other people's cars (Shelbyville must not have much of a noise ordinance). WVEZ appears to be the most popular Louisville station in Shelbyville, followed by WAMZ and WLUE.

I can actually get 89.9 (WKVO), 95.3 (WVRB), and 96.3 (WXKY) in eastern Louisville on a regular basis. There have been times when WVRB comes in better than WARA.

I can get 107.9 The Beat inside Jefferson County. If your in Shelbyville, you get best of both worlds its seems with radio coming from the Louisville and Lexington markets

I think what bothered me more in Louisville was how spotty B-96's signal was in some places that are right in the heart of the metro area.

I don't know if I'd call it the "best". The same formats in Louisville are on in Lexington. XM works for me.

I live in Oldham County and I regularly listen to Smooth Jazz 102.1 out here. Though I lose it fast when I drive in to the Metro.

Yes for the most part the formats are the same, but the radio personalities are different... You can pick and choose which market to hear local news, sports and traffic if you wish.... Being in between Louisville and Lexington you can have multiple choices of what type of music you want to listen to, so if its a song you dont like, just flip it.... if one station has a commercial on, flip it to another one... what im trying to say is, that you have more of a choice of what you can listen to on the dial around there compared to being out in the boonies and you hit the "seek" button and it goes all the way around without stopping!

You're right, with my Pioneer Supertuner 3 I can get most Lexington Fms fairly well in Louisville. I have the antenna mounted on the back fender to keep the static from being introduced into the stereo from the engine. My CD player is flaking out on me though and have been looking at a Sony XPLOD. I wonder how good the tuner is. Can't hardly beat 98.1 though for coverage though. Picked it outside of Columbus, OH for the UK game on my Supertuner 3.

I would love to have one! Where can I buy one and what's the price?

And not a bit of interference from WNCI, 97.9 @ 175,000 watts with their antenna in downtown Columbus?

If that's true, don't ever get rid of that radio, because you'll never find another.

Thats what I was thinking Greg, He couldnt have been any closer than 30 miles from Columbus or their is no way he could have picked them up there. Thats about 180 miles away. I can get the Lexington stations in Cincinatti, but not Columbus.

At the time of my reception of 98.1, I was about 40 miles south of Columbus hearing a commercial for Paul Miller Ford, and one more thing, WNCI's signal is not that great away from the tower. My particular radio was purchased from EBAY.

Ive noticed that WNCis signal isnt nearly what it should be for 175,000 watts. They fade out about 50 miles west of Columbus.

I can get Nashville stations in Louisville every now and then, so 180 miles isn't that unusual. Even growing up in Mobile, I actually got New Orleans stations (including 104.1 Kiss FM completely overriding WYOK), and that's also about the same distance.

It's funny how one can get most of the full power Lexington FM's in Louisville, but it's hard to pick up most of Louisville's in Lexington. Dont get me wrong, though. I can pick up 95.7, 97.5, 99.7, 100.5, and 106.9 fairly well on the west side of Lexington (around the Versailles Rd. area west of New Circle Rd.) but it's hard sometimes. You can't get them at all on the east side.

Ive actually picked up DJX all the way down south of Richmond on a Boombox once in the mid 90s. Ive also heard WAMZ pretty far south of Lexington. I dont know what Nashville FMs you would pick up the ville, aside from 101.1 on the far south side. I know the 99.7 in Nashville messes with DJXs signal in E-town. 107.5 The River would probably make it into the ville if it wasnt for SFR on 107.7, and the new E-town Chr on 107.3... I used to get 107.5 almost clear as a bell in E-town in the 90s. I also one time picked up 96.1 WSTO from Owensboro, Evansville, and heard them in Lexington on a Delco Factory radio in a Buick century. Ive even been able to DX the St Louis stations about 30 miles north of Louisville, mainly ALT rocker 105.7 THE POINT. Even KSLZ 107.7 St Louis was fighting out SFR in that area.

As for Chrisalcorn... Dont ever leave your car unlocked when im in town..LOL...(Just kidding..).... Im surprised with that radio of yours that you cant null out DJX and pick up Q-100 from Atlanta... They just moved to 99.7 from 100.5 as you may know.. They are on a flamethrower signal now... 100.5 was a 3kw pea shooter.
