Does anyone miss the weekend WBZ "talk" radio?

You all know what I'm referring to;

it's been discussed before. Just thought I would bring it up again.

JR, for the most part your show bores me to tears. My only other option for weekend nite talk was WGN & towards the end of 2011 they (corporate) screwed that all to heck by inserting canned shows for most of the night.

The last thing I want to hear on the overnights/weekends is some disease show, some author hawking their latest book, some obscure historian, metaphysical/angel expert...well, you get the idea.

Oh - I forgot movie/tv/book nite. ::) Although, I can tolerate that in small doses...

JR - any chance of returning the format to a "call-in" type of show? It would give a refreshing breath to "local-live talk radio... ::)

Listeners - are you with me on this one?

I think going way back at 'BZ the first weekend crew may have been Robin Young(DJ) and Dennis Burke (talk). Prior to that I think they were doing Best of Glick. And they may not have even been on-air 12-6am on Monday?
Sarah Teng used to play music --they were paying their dues then-- and read poetry! Burke was talented: wanted more money.
Ken Meyer may have replaced him but I don't remember?

Nobody wants to pay on weekends they want paid programming.

WLS had great weekend guys in Nate Clay(legendary) and Jake Hartford. Neither survived the RW purge although Hartford was rehired then laid off --again--within a few months.
Brian Noonan on at WGN isn't bad and he's prob the only talk on in MW.

What katzradio said.
The only bright spots on the weekend are the Dennis Miller archived show, Avi Nelson and Pundit Review. Other than that, it's a wasteland.

Brian Noonan was awesome (WGN) on weekend overnights. That show had real chemistry, especially with Roger the newsman, and the other news guy (sorry, I forgot his name.)

Maybe Jordie will happen upon the thread and consider returning to the good old days when he actually took calls for most, if not all of the show.

I did listen briefly last night to Jordan Rich last night as he had on Eng. lang. expert Richard Lederer talking about American states trivia, not too bad

Geez, another thriller broadcast. Nothing like listening to three? friends who haven't seen each other in X number of years reminisce from another country. Sorry, I was too bored to capture any of the details, but I believe that was the gist of it. ::)

And then follow up with another health expert. ::)

Please, Gods of talk radio make it like it used to be.

I sure hope somebody is listening to my plea....

Caught that myself while driving at around 4am. I usually find JR tolerable, but that may have been the worst programming in the history of the medium (and when the competition is Ken Mayer's interminable 'old time radio' interviews, that's really saying something.) Talk about a 'WTF moment.'

Tonight, as I was leaving Worcester for the drive home from 11:00PM -12:00 AM, with a few stops along the way, I tuned to WBZ NEWSRADIO 1030 for the latest NEWS, and heard an hour long Purity products phony program. Then, the canned pre recorded NEWS came at midnight or after the network headlines from CBS, the traffic report, let me know about tunnel closures and exits blocked off from the Mass Pike, then came Friday evening's weather forecast for the upcoming weekend broadcast at midnight on Sunday morning Just what I was waiting for an hour, and they fired off last's night's weather.
That station continues to impress
