Does anyone remember Dave Roddy on WSGN?

Russell, I guess we’re the only ones who remember him. I had followed their link to your site and I was impressed, it’s great! BTW have you met Dave? Chad

Never have in person, Chad ... but have e-mailed with him (he now lives in Columbia, SC), and narrowly missed the chance to have lunch with him last time he was in Savannah. Oh well, there's always next time.

Thanks for the nice word about the page. It was a privilege to have his contributions to the site.

Dave Roddy was the night time dj on WYDE 850 prior to WSGN ... this was about 1961-62 I think. He went over to WSGN when Jim Taber came in as PD and the station reinvented itself.

Ido, I would hear hil on the radio all the time,I have many of the wsgn jingles packs and yes his intro jingle too, I think bob mayben has them too, see bobmayben.com Scotty Morgan [email protected]

Yes, I remember Dave Roddy...He did afternoons for a while and counted down the WSGN TOP 40 on Friday afternoons...He also had a hit reocrd out in April-May 1968 "The Last Goodbye"...Went to #1 on the WSGN TOP 40 Survey...The flip side was "Hit To Hit" by The Music Men...He was injured while doing a sock hop at the at the Oporto Armory and falling 15 feet in a manhole and I don't remember if he ever came back to WSGN again....I believe all of this is correct, but I worked from 2002-2007 for Walt Williams who now lives in Florida and was at WSGN from around 1962-1972...So if you all have any questions about the great days of WSGN and Birmingham radio I'll try to find out...
