I'm originally from Chicago, and now live in Southern California. Outside of the call letters prior of WVAZ which
were WBMX which stood for Black music (X) experience. It would be insane for any station to invest money into a billboard that would such a statement.
It was ran mainly on the south and westsides of Chicago , and in Gary mainly where African-Americans lived.....I dont know the exact verbage but its sounds very familiar....
Broadcast Partners worked like crazy to shake its predicessor's (WBMX) stigma of dance music & forcus on older african-American Listeners....
