I've had a few occasions to scan through the dial over the past couple weeks and I keep thinking something ain't right about B101.1. Lately, when I hear the station, I have often thought that a song sounded strange, like a low-fidelity copy. It's been quite a few songs that I'm very very familiar with. Yesterday, I heard one of the songs from Amy Grant's 1992 album (the first Christmas CD I ever went out and bought for myself) and it sounded super "echo-y" (I make up words) and kinda like the song was coming from a room at the end of a long hallway. I've heard it on other songs on the station but I thought maybe I was losing my mind. Yesterday though, with the Amy Grant song, there was no doubt that something was wrong. The next song was The Jackson Five's "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," which also happened to be playing on WJBR. I flipped back and forth a few times and it was definitely crisper and brighter on 99.5. On 101.1, it sounded..."heavy" for want of a better term and there seemed to be too much bass.
Oh, and before those songs, B101.1 played a version of Frank Sinatra's "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" that I've never heard in my life. In years past, they have played the same version that I hear everywhere else. Why would they change it?
Some weird stuff. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed it.
