Does B98.5 stand a chance?

1. Do you know of any other stations that have a half as good morning show as pork roll and eggs that I can get up in northern monmouth county and up into union county? (old bridge to cranford).

Half as good? No, I can't think of any morning shows in the area that sink that low. :-D

In all seriousness though, I'd love to hear what you like about the show. Mind you, I'm not the target audience, but to me the show sounds unprofessional, and the people hosting it just come off as self-important jerks. And I don't think they have the sense of humor or on-air presence to back their attitude up. Worst of all, there is very little radio experience between them, and it shows.

As a college radio DJ with bigger aspirations, I'm not normally one to go ripping apart other jocks who have gotten further in "the biz" than I have. But PR&E seriously rubs me the wrong way. It's too bad that Press thinks they are a bigger draw than Matt Knight.

My last comment...Since when was Country big in NJ?

It's got quite a big following, actually. Maybe not so much around Union County, but definitely as you head towards Monmouth. And even around New Brunswick, there are plenty of South Jerseyans attending Rutgers who would appreciate the station. Thunder 98.5 was getting solid ratings, and I could see Thunder 106 doing even better.

At first I didnt care much for it. But I kinda liked the unprofessional sound they had going on. They always seemed pretty laid back and always joking around and bashing on each other at times. One time they opened up the text connect for everyone to text in and bash on Nina for a few minutes and it was pretty damn funny what some people said, that they could in turn say on air.

The music side of it, frankly i feel between them, z100, the new 92.3 (all hit music stations) just pumped the same music into your heads, and i had nothing else to listen to so I mainly listened to them for when they would be talking and suffer thru some of the music.

If I had it my way I would have done just about anything for them to have brought back the old Grock radio as that was more my taste of music than hit pop junk.

As for country in monmouth, I grew up in monmouth (morganville/marlboro) which i guess was far enough north to not be for lack of a better word, subjected, to country. And in no way am I dissing country music.

I cant blame them for making the switch since it seems like it was the best route for them as an overall company to offer country to a wider range of people. But for someone who likes rock/alternative rock/some pop/some hit music we just keep losing our radio stations in my area. Sadly, its getting to a point where they will be forcing people like myself to turn to sat. radio.

Thats my rant

I read something somewhere that PC had just bought the rights to something like www.hit985.com (or some variety of that) just recently. And they probably havent gotten that up and running yet. Might as well let everyone who goes to hit106.com to continue going there and eventually when the new site is up have it forward you to the new site.

It seems like the video has changed there. Could this be some type of crazy stunt? How low could PC go? I mean I like this song and but....

another fine choice for a video. a good old slap to the un-fun bags was probably the most action that frumpy woman's ever had.

What are you talking about? The song that was on yesterday was that Bed Intruder song. I've got to check this out now.

Is it confirmed that PC owns this domain?

can we get these addresses removed? i didn't wanna put anyone out there like that. sorry.

I agree that there are a lot of hit stations playing the same music.

There is a radio station at 98.5 FM further south inland (and 97.9 FM at the southern shore) that plays a lot of songs not heard on other stations and they have a great morning show.

It would be nice if the owner of the new B98.5 decided to lease out his station to the owner of the other 98.5 FM which has a great playlist & morning program.

The area needs a new kid on the block and the LIFT FM format is definitely the answer.

Christian music? Radio that's "family-friendly" or "safe for the little ears", right? We're well covered on that, with WYRS, Reach-FM, and Star broadcasting with very good signals out here. I definitely consider that to be one of the formats we DON'T need (along with Top 40, AC/Soft Rock, Classic Rock, and Country) in Ocean County.

This new B98.5 is absolutely for the birds. It has pretty much nothing in common with the station that once broadcasted under that brand, being musically different and having none of the personalities that the audience is familiar with. It's even more juvenile sounding than Hit 106 was, and that's pretty sad. And they get rid of the one personality who had the veteran presence in the market and wasn't a chore to listen to, that being Matt Knight. Sorry, Press, you fail - AGAIN.

I've listened to Reach FM, Star and WYRS. They're radically different from LIFT.

LIFT FM seems more like a hit music station than the others, but they don't play every song everyone is playing. I think LIFT caters more to young people that aren't necessarily Christians.

On Lift FM I've heard Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Cold Play, Tim McGraw, David Gray, Avril Lavigne, Miley Cyrus, JOnas Borthers, Keane, Foreigner and more but I can't remember all the groups.

Still would like to see B98.5 switch to LIFT FM. I think lift would take from hit stations, talk and christian stations.

:D
