Does BMP own KTXX?

Does BMP Own KTXX? Are they going to move their tower closer to San antonio? They have a pretty decent signal going into Victoria, funny they are just in Mono.

Agreed on the first part (yes, it's BMP), but on the second question, no, not really.

KTXX's current construction permit calls for relocating the tower a little further west and increasing their power but they're going directional as a "contour protection station:" www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FM1259552.html The "protected" stations are KEEP in Bandera (also on 103.1) and San Antonio's Jack, on 102.7, so what they'll get will be about as good as they'll ever be.

In July they filed an assignment of license but they have not consummated the transfer. That's why the database still shows Palm as the licensee.

According to what I hear from an inside source at BMP, they're never going to build on that CP but they just hired a consulting engineer to run some studies and they believe the station can be moved 2.5 miles outside of San Antonio. To do this, they need to buy out someone else (not sure who or where that station is...didn't ask) and the price they got was 2.5 million for that station. They plan on doing this in about a year. Again, this is just what I heard from someone in a management position there. So we shall see how that goes.

The reason the station is not broadcasting in stereo is because the stereo pilot was making the station sound "worse" in San Antonio. By killing the pilot they are getting a little better signal into SA.

To move closer to SA BMP would need to take control, via money or ownership of KEEP, the Bandera radio station operating on 103.1. They could then could move closer to Nixon or Smiley. I didn't check if that could be done via a channel change or tower relocation.

Still, it would be a long hop to SA.

I would think they would do better the way they are to serve the Victoria area and parts of San antonio.
