Well, I’m proud to say that my run in Dallas, TX has come to an end! Got the word that Hot Springs Arkansas is taking me in for an Engineer position and some other light duties including an air-shift.
I’ve done everything that I can do in Dallas short of Management and some light Engineering. I know my way around the studio and Engineering room pretty well, but transmitters will be a new learned skill. I know just enough to burn the place down and what ever you do, don’t touch the AM stick while it’s energized!
All of you have been so supportive with my run in Dallas between ’94 to ’04 and you know who you are… Thanks for everything! Born and raised in this market and the opportunity to get to work for the same market without having to leave town to come back is very unique. It’s time to pack it up and move on to new adventures and get some new life experiences. Seems like everyone I’ve met in radio has a story to tell. Well, it’s time for me to go get my story. See what others have seen; work in a market where they expect you to be more than just your fancy title.
While some people play radio here in Dallas, I have real full-time work again! I figure spend a good 5 plus years out there and I’ll never want for another job. Board-ops, Production, Producers, Air-Talent, Sales, Management are a dime a dozen. There’s so many in this market looking for work, there’s really nothing left to do. Seems like just having a good work record for always being there, never late, never calling in sick, and pulling miracles out your butt in the final second, isn’t enough anymore to survive.
To the rest of you I leave behind in this market, I wish you all the best of luck in your journey for that “Next Big Gig”.

Thanks for taking the chance on a kid caught between Ol’ school radio and the deregulation error. With out ya’ll, I’d still be working radio without pay somewhere in Terrell.
