Does EEI want Arnold to quit?

I can't imagine that it's all coincidence that Arnold is forced to do 6-10 the exact same week that the new show begins at 10; those moments in the studio must be awfully awkward. How hard is EEI trying to get him to quit and not pay his salary?

I don't see it that way. Because of the NESN simulcast WEEI can't use some people they've used in the past (like Bob Neumeier) because of their connection to CSN New England. Dale is "safe" and still being paid by Entercom.

I'm really wondering what's going on. I don't think they've strengthened their lineup at all. Mutt and Merloni is certainly not an improvement over Dale and Holley. By having Dale on for four hours before them just points that out. Dale and Holley was a pretty vanilla show, but this new one is skim milk. It's early, but I've already given up on it. Neither host has any personality. I don't think you can correct that. Either you've got it or you don't.

The Big Show seems very forced and uncomfortable and it seems like race pops up on a daily basis now. I really think that they should have one outside co-host per day. But just stick to the good ones, McAdam, Maxwell, Buckley, Curran, et al......no LJ, Butch Sterns, Smerlas, or Borges. I can't imagine listening to two know-it-alls bicker for four hours a day for much longer

A lot of people liked WEEI the way it was, with some exceptions of course. They were being strongly challenged by 98.5, but it's not like they dropped to the bottom. So I guess when you change things those people aren't going to like it, at least at first. I know I've been listening to a lot more 103.3 and 105.7.

I tried the mid-day show again Friday. I lasted less than an hour. Merloni is decent but Mutnansky is trying to act like he's one of the "cool kids" and it's just not working. His attempts to be funny bring back painful memories of Larry Johnson.

I guess that I too am a lost P1. Why do they call it P1 anyway?

A station's most loyal listeners ... and (supposedly) that station is the first preset button on that person's car radio.

Maybe it's because I am in the business and know every radio station, but my presets in order of frequency not in order of which station(s) I listen to the most.

I also have always gone in order of frequency, even if I listen to 850 the most, 680 would come first, even if I tuned into 608 once a month.

It drives me crazy when they are out of order. Thanks slight OCD.

It drives me crazy when stations use "industry" terms in their actual imaging. There's a sports station in the DFW market that uses P1 in their promos (like P1 Mondays) or something or other and I'm sure that 1/2 their listeners don't know what a P1 is.

I think the word Active (as in Active Rock) is used a bit much in radio too. I think non-industry listeners would relate better with Real Rock, Hard Rock, Rock of XXX (City), than "Active Rock"
