Does It Exist?

I recently found the last minutes of WLS Musicradio on a
website.

So now I wondering if anyone out there has ever heard of
an aircheck of the "first" minutes of WLS way back in 1960
when they signed on as a top 40 music format.

It may not exist -- but if it does, I'd like a copy of it.

Anyone know about this??

Sorry to be selfish, as I don't have the aircheck you're looking for....Anyways, could you post the link to WLS' last minutes?? I've been looking for them, forever, as they were not as widely publicized as WABC's in '82, which everyone seems to either have a copy, or know a link to some website that does. Interestingly, the 45 minute montage 77/WABC signed off with was a re-edit of WLS' 1981 end of year music montage, with ABC placing a heavier emphasis on rhythmic tunes, whereas WLS had a rockier sound on the montage.

As for WLS, I seem to have read online the sign off was nowhere near as publicized as WABC's end....Supposedly, the engineer and announcer were in the studio, and had no clue until they looked at the log and saw the next hour featured talk shows and no music...I could have read it wrong.

Here is where you can find it: http://www.wlshistory.com/jox/docduncan.htm

I just found an aircheck from May 1960 (not the sign on)
-- it is a short bit that's
interesting.

I have 2 different versions of the WLS year-end montages.
One has WLS jingles in it and the other one doesn't.

Thanks!
Edited by Musicradio on 10/25/05 01:58 PM.

Video

I recently got a copy of a video
that featured John Landecker on the air at WLS
back sometime around 1978. I had to pay a bit
of cash to get it -- but it was worth it to me.

So...with trying to make my money back, I'm working
on getting some copies made of the tape on DVD.

If you want to know more about this, please leave me
an e-mail address to contact you and I'll send you
a note.

Thanks!

Your "other" version may have been from New Year's Eve on WRLL.
