Does anyone think that this market is in need of a sports/talk station?
I will hang up and listen for your answer.

thanks for the compiments.robfwb said:blah.. no we have two of them
what's next? b 95 the news sportz station? gag me.
(though rare as the signal comes in here, I do enjoy listening to that - we have a 94.9 that overslays it)
If your going to do news do it. Aside from some local HS football games, it should be one or the other.
Again, this area is in need of a 100KW on a 2,000 foot tower+ FM talker.
Coast to Coast anyone?

You need one local host to get those bar dollars.cceng said:We tried Fox Sports 24/7 on 590 AM and it never showed up in the book.....ESPN/1290...same thing....590 has a great signal (day and night)...can't say that for 1290.....it didn't work for either party....we are carrying Fox Sports midnight-5am on 94.5 WFLA-Fox News Radio..oh, before rob starts bitching that he can't hear 590....LOOK AT THE MAP !! Poledo is right about FWB area and towers...the 2 500 ft towers in downtown FWB are lucky to be there....there will never be a tall tower in Okaloosa county except maybe next to the Ala line. I think if you asked the general public in Okaloosa county if they would rather have a 1000 ft tower or Eglin AFB/Hurlburt Field, it would be a "no brainer". Rob, there are PLENTY of places for you to listen to the freaks on George Norrey's (sp?) show...many AM clears carry it.

Cokes, of course. Took half a damn day for all the pit stops (is that two words?) Someone up
there in a 'house' nearby watched those things called strobes and called us when one burnt out.
The call letters were WXCR at the time. My mistake on the last post. (Old age) They were
WWSF before and after. Now they are still WTKE and it's probably still a failing waste of electricity.
I wonder how the old tower strobes are...Rob, according to Mapquest...Escambia Farms is
six weeks, three days and eleven hours by donkey...if you want to go see the tower.
(should I even try?)robfwb said:Here's a station with promise: http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WDIZ&service=AM&status=L&hours=D
Again.. another station covering more SEA then people (land)
Why there not NON DIRECTIONAL is beyond me.
IF they apply for a 10KW (or even 5KW) CP permit and go non directional, I BET this station's signal could be heard from pensacola to the outer edges of the state capitol.
and note: I can hear the signal (though faint) but it's there.
I'm not a radio expert so quit bitching at me. Yes, my ideas are weird but hey..that's me!
at my old home, WSYR 570 is a good example of a 24hr 5KW signal. We were able to hear it up in northern ONTARIO! (along with the faint CW of that infamous RR code every minute.)
Panama City needs a stable, rock sold station that the people can depend on. Not this fly by night BS I've been hearing.
(NOTE: Radio Locater still has it listed as "TOURIST INFO" after me telling them they are a satellite fed "music of your life" station several times in their "update" section)
